I'm not getting into it like i did the last one. Personally i believe in a God and ill leave it at that. Popcorn with extra artery clogging butter now please :D :giveup: :dope:

And just as a little extra something for those people that say because you cant prove there is a god there isnt one..one small question and answer it seriously

Do you love something,or anything really whether it be a person or thing?

Troll or not. :sohappy:

No.

As for the reasons, I'd rather not enumerate all of them since, chances are, you've already heard the rationale behind it but simply fail or refuse to grasp it. But I'll go ahead and give you the core of my reasoning.

The biggest thing is that I simply cannot bring myself to believe in the existence of an invisible, self-contradicting figure that most people in this planet pay respect to. I find no merit in seeing "God" as the default answer to the unknown.

Science is driven by curiosity and admittance of ignorance; we accept that we do not understand something therefore we strive to find a fact-based answer/theory in an attempt to define it. The belief in "God," as a creator, on the other hand, teaches us to simply be satisfied with where we're at. Imagine where humanity would be at if we held on to that principle.

My parents, my grandmother, my sister, my cousins, and everyone in my extended family's Catholic - if that satisfies you. :P

@lee: oh the fallacy. :palm:

Yes, and to answer your next question:

This is a feeling brought on by electrical and chemical reactions in your brain. Why? Evolutionary trait. Love for someone is an evolutionary trait that is beneficial to group cohesion and mating, and thus the survival of the species. Those who love and reproduced or loved each other and formed groups survived to pass on this trait. 'Love' is just the term we use to describe the chemical reactions and resulting "feelings" and actions caused by said reactions.

'Love', unlike God, can be quantified.

Trap, avoided.

You call us, believers, ignorant, which is highly hypocritical since you all just dismiss the Bible on the surface level without even looking into it further. Who's really being ignorant here?

Sadly, I never got the chance to finish what I was working on with the whole "Science versus Atheism" thread I made a while back. Things happened. *A girl*. And I didn't get around to getting my professors notes.

Sadly, most atheists are usually much more well-read than MOST christians on the bible.
I'm not saying you, but most of the out-spoken atheists, Dawkins etc. are much more well read on the bible than a majority of Christians. (And others too lol).
I'll pull up some stats if you want lol.

God =/= religion
Moreover, learn how to respect other people's belief. How they think has nothing to do with you.
You don't need to follow a religion to have moral but since the beginning of humanity, the origine of morality has a strong relation with religion or vice versa.

Yeah, and morality has changed throughout time. For instance, in the 1800s slavery was moral. Just because something originated in something, doesn't mean it can't change lol.
Of course I would respect other people's religions, but then again, as I've beaten this dead horse, religion slows down the progression of society, more importantly, in discovering our REAL origins, not the ones people in the Bronze age wrote down in their tents.
And @Barotix, I try to be tolerant, I really do. But when people spew out this retardation (we didn't evolve, god made us etc.) it angers me. It shows how the god delusion is a very strong 'uneducator,' for lack of better words.

Live life? I live life all the time. I'm not gonna go out and live life on a school night lol. Just because I say the same stuff as someone, doesn't make it incorrect. Especially considering NO proofs of god exist, theoretical or physical. I'm trying to help you out! Don't live out of fear of hell, and don't live following some guy from the bronze age. Live how you want to live.

by the criteria that the natural system is only getting better and better (not counting human influnces) and it's ability to heal itself.

So, you're disgusted when people don't share the same ideological views on the origin of man? Is this just in regards to the origin of man and life, in general, or are you disgusted when people just disagree? If you go about life getting worked up because people don't accept facts you're going to be a very unhappy person. Live and let live. If people don't agree with natural selection it's their loss, not yours.

As for:
Don't live out of fear of hell

The more educated Christians aren't Christians because they're scared of hell.

Well duh since morals are more or less based on a person's idea of what being moral is.

Just because something originated in something, doesn't mean it can't change lol.
Lol

Progression towards what? Plus that "progression" can hardly be measured accurately with large test groups considering a ton of alternating variables.

And @Barotix, I try to be tolerant, I really do. But when people spew out this retardation (we didn't evolve, god made us etc.) it angers me. It shows how the god delusion is a very strong 'uneducator,' for lack of better words.

Lol and you call the god delusion a very strong uneducator.
It is silly think you can call a delusion a regression of education, a strong one at that.

I'm trying to help you out!
Is the help needed though? Is it really help?

@Barotix
Agreed. Plus arguing (can't think of a better word right now) can be fun and a chance to learn something you might not have realized because you might, or might not, be close minded.

I thought this issue (illusion of design) has been resolved by Darwin already? If you grasp the true essence of evolution, you will understand that these seemingly-designed objects are part of a continuum, rather than an all-or-nothing situation. Take the eye for example: your eyes allow you to see your surroundings (up to a certain distance) clearly and in color. Whereas the eyes of another animal could only see blurred images and/or less colors. But both of them are better than no image at all.

Perfection is simply a label we put on things because the characteristics of that particular subject allows it to perform seemingly-flawless function (as related to its environment) or at the very least, be able to survive - which is the core essence of evolution.

But anyway, like I told one of my friends once: "If you find meaning in it, and if you're content with that - then good for you."
