Same with the mosque at ground zero imo. I mean, the only thing good I think about this, is that it says we forgive them, but we already have mosques in our country, so I think that building it on ground zero just isn't right.

They're not building on ground zero. They're building 2 blocks away from it. Whats a good enough distance away from Ground Zero for a Mosque not to be considered disrespectful? Who gets to decide decides something like that?

You're generalizing in the worst way. The Muslim extremist who were responsible for 9/11 are not everyday Muslims nor should their actions tarnish the reputations of Muslims everywhere. You can't hold them or their religion accountable for that and if you really think all churches near military bases are disrespectful because of the actions of the Westboro Baptist Church then you're a fool. By that logic if someone was raped then ALL men should have a restraining order that they shouldn't be allowed to go near that victim. If someone was hit by a drunk driver than no one should be allowed to have a drink within miles of that person. If someone was robbed by a black person then ALL black people should be put on a restraining order to stay away from that person.

That is how idiotic your logic sounds and I'm done trying to talk to a person who thinks like that.

this, so much this.

What do you mean I think like that? Your analogy is RIDICULOUS. The first part maybe, I see what you're saying and that makes sense. However, the last part with the drunk driver and the robbery is just retarded.
These things, pearl harbor, 9/11 were CATASTROPHES. They were thousands of times worse than drunk driving etc, and the comparison just doesn't make sense. Again, I don't hold the religion accountable, but putting things like this near a memorial site is disrespectful. Again, disagree, idc, it just shows you have a lack of sympathy.

Well I though you meant that Muslims Radicals instigated the attacks because of what happened during 9/11 when the tension between the States & the Middle East existed way before.(And was not instigated by the Muslims)

No.

With that logic you could say the war started with the Greeks and Persians, if not earlier.

The war started when it was declared, and the war in Afghanistan is separate from the one in Iraq.

Why don't they just build a mosque a little farther away? I mean 2 blocks away, just I don't see the logic. This no-name company, who, speculators say is getting the 100 million dollars to build this gigantic mosque overseas, wants to build a mosque right there, in that spot? Just why lol.
And, I doubt it will be made anyway, considering how much protest there will be/is, and how it will be difficult to come up with the money to make this 14 story mosque.

Most city blocks are 1 mile. Thats why they usually go 91st - 101st - 111st because they divide it up into 1/10ths

its not a 14 story mosque you fool.

"Cordoba wants to transform the building into a glass tower with a swimming pool, basketball court, auditorium and culinary school besides the mosque. The center, called Park51, also would have a library, art studios and meditation rooms. "

"The center's board will include members of other religions, the project's backers said. There also will be a Sept. 11 memorial to the victims of the attacks, Khan said."

"The Cordoba Initiative says on its website that its goal is to foster a better relationship between the Muslim world and the West, "steering the world back to the course of mutual recognition and respect and away from heightened tensions.""

Good stuff that so many are defending the obvious but is as sad as ever that so many still don't get it.

True, According to this:

You would need to Demolish the Catholic Church, the Methodist Church, the New York Academy of Sciences (Let's pretend they are Scientology for sake of Argument) and the Amish Market. Just cuz.

lmao, u can't even see the site from the proposed block

i personally can't see any reason why this mosque shouldn't be built

a little birdy told me there were adult stores within a block of ground zero

now should they be forced to move, owing to how "special" ground zero site is?

America should uphold the constitution and let them build, religious freedom is for everyone. they can have a mosque as long as everything they do is legal. just don't cry when barefoot rednecks come inside and fill people with lead when your sitting down and praying cause what they are doing is the same kind of flag waving as a white person going into downtown detroit and yelling the n-word.
