seems like the problem has been solved but just for kicks I'll mention the dog whisperer show and will add to the notion of "show her who is the boss". Without really hurting the animal you can accomplish this by holding it down and not allowing movement or suspending it in the air by grabbing by it's neck ( grab not choke for all the carebears ), either way the animals should realize how powerless it is against you and know it's place/act accordingly.

Cats are nothing like dogs. You cannot train a cat the same way you train a dog, their social skills are different, the hierarchy is different, and the attitude is different. I had dogs my entire life growing up and I can tell you that training my cats was a completely different experience. I don't suggest you watch dog shows and expect to apply them to cats.

Lmao.

Recently I've moved into my dad's new gf's appartment and she has a cat, I never liked her and she started to bore me more everyday, so I started to show her who she was messing with.

Now everytime I stand up she runs away.

/don't ask what I did.

Its my landlord's cat lol but I'll tell her you said the cat is cute, she'll be happy about that. although I strongly disagree 8) rather than cute it looks more like a ball of carpet yelling "kick me for a Field goal!"

just a quick update

now the cat would meow and beg me for treats when I'm in the kitchen, and every time I walk by her, she would make way for me by moving aside.

thanks a lot guys :D

edit: when I first started this thread I expected around 5 post of lolcats and nobody would actually help out, but you guys proved me wrong and OTL is really maturing :) way to go guys

Now you're just in danger of her becoming a lap cat and clawing you while she purrs :D Good luck with that part lol

Hi destructionmama.

The cat is having a problem because you are unfamiliar and your on its "turf". Some cats are just generally unfriendly or "old in their ways". When you cross paths, let the cat sniff you out first.

Make a loose fist, and offer it the back of your hand. It will sniff you out a bit, then it will likely back down. If it hisses or nips/scratch when you reach to pet it, do the above first so it can inspect you. Then try.

After a while it will be used to your presence, tho likely it might not ever let you reach for it without letting it check you out first. Feeding it treats does help as suggested. Generally respecting the cats space will win you the cats respect.

I guess natural processes are suppose to take reeeaallly really long, like how the mountains are formed by plate tectonics

edit: and thx Ryoko ya its much much better now after 2 weeks of bonding with the cat, I still won't let her go into my room though, I don't want to wake up hugging a cat or having a tail jabbed in my face
