U dont know if u should believe or not. That's your destiny. Even if u can go to the past to change your life in the present, that's your destiny. You are destine to go to the past to change things.

God doesnt allow human to know what the time is and doesnt allow them to create time machine. Because with such thing, it will be more complicated to create human's destiny.

Have u ever meet a time traveler?

I have a hard time believing in destiny. Right now, no I don't believe in it.

I do believe we don't have as much control over our lives as we think we do. Not because of some higher power, but because of other people. We have no control over the decisions they make, and why they make them. Nature vs Nuture. We're humans, our basic nature is the same but depending how we were brought up, by who, and the environment...I think is what shapes us and our choices in life.

Like fena said, if he were to walk outside and stab somebody...not their choice. But, if I were to stop and pick up that ten dollar bill I saw a block back, would I still be in the position to be stabbed at that precise moment? Most likely not. That's my reasoning at the moment, and it leads me to not believe in destiny. People make choices, and so do the people surrounding them. Your choice is going to affect somebody, and their choice is going to affect you. No matter how small, or how big that decision or choice is.

I have faith, though. And you don't need a religion to have faith. Faith and hope that I live a happy life, and can keep a happy life out in the real world. A happy life is a good life, if you ask me. That's all I want in this lifetime.

FFS Nuclear, to YOU everything we say, everything we believe in, everything that farking exists is destiny.

That what YOU believe.

If you were to die tmorrow because of "destiny" how would you feel about your destiny?

Destiny
---------

Say, if you were a firm believer in destiny like Nuclear, and you started failing a subject, would you REALLY sit there and let yourself fail thinking that destiny has set you to fail?

IMO.

If you do something forcefully, from brute will power. That is not destiny, that is your OWN doing.

I dont agree when u use "if". He chose to die in the street, it's his destiny to die there. He chose to not die in the street, it's his destiny which tell him to choose it.
"if" is just only what u think in your head, and u'll never do it.

and those prediction and spirit things are just absurd, I've neevr seen spirit or felt them. even when I ws really high, so i dunno what's ur ouidja board is made of but i need to get some.

Did u try Ouija Board? No, u didnt. U cant feel nor see them just because they dont want u to know their presence. But with ouija yes.
Before jumping to conclusion that I bs about spirit. Why dont u just try to use ouija once? Scared?
I always encouraged ppl to use ouija to understand the truth in the world. But if u dont believe in spirit why not just test once? What are u scared of? Making a board only takes 20 mins

If you do something forcefully, from brute will power. That is not destiny, that is your OWN doing.

So? It's your destiny which tell u to do things with brute force because u dont believe in it.

its okay silo let it sink in your normal with actions of a normal human being believing in destiny isnt going to make it better
Sorry
the only suppose thing i call destiny is death other then that your choices will dictate your life, and death
If the concept of us being all one consciousness's and us being one thing that lives endless through the cycle of nature the only clear emotion would be understanding .
we be in a utopia

If something like destiny exists, wouldn't you stop trying? If there is something like destiny then it always leads to the same thing, failure. Because if you do nothing, you will get nowhere, no matter what. So would you rather believe your destiny is to become a millionaire and do nothing your whole life waiting for something good to just happen for no reason, or would you believe everyone's destiny is failure and we should all work to change it and study, invent, work hard and do what we believe we should.

Yeah, I believe in the logical destiny...you will fail unless you do something about it. So I lead my destiny instead of following it.
However, if causality is your idea of destiny, then sure I believe in the scientific principle of causality.

I like posting before reading the thread, then editing my post as I read it, you might have noticed that, or not, just making sure you know I actually read the thread.

Anyway, I wanted to comment on NuclearSilo's "God doesn't allow people to create a time machine" statement.

Time slows down as you get closer to a black hole. It's a natural time machine, and if someone can be suspended in one place near a black hole, they would technically travel in time, since they wouldn't feel the time passing by. Meaning, they will travel "forward" in time. So black hole = natural time machine. The problem here is, going backwards in time, which is what you need in order to change your destiny. There are theories, but nothing conclusive, and so, you can change your destiny even if you believe that destiny means predetermined by God...but in the end, destiny is simply causality, and it is REALLY hard to argue against causality, since it's a scientific principle...which I could use to stomp over any argument the way you are using destiny, except I wouldn't be saying some "God" wrote it down somewhere in his diary...

That's why I said religion is a scientific concept which hasn't yet been proven by science, but it's been warped through the use of words. In it's very fundamental, religion believes god is a scientist or an alien or an ancient race. People just separate the two because religion came before science and a lot of it's preachings are warped because there was no science to explain them.

^I dont know what a black hole is, and im not good in science though. So most thing u said i dont understand. But as I stated before: going back to the past using a time machine to change your future is just a part of your destiny. U dont actually change your destiny, u change your future. Future and destiny are 2 things different. It's the destiny that lead the future, that lead u to do anything, that lead u to think about to do anything... No matter u decide to do something, it's because destiny tells u to do so.

Im sleepy now, need to go to sleep. It's hard to explain atm :S

Science is not everything, and science cant explain everything, until now.

why do you want to believe in this so bad? like if someone would write stuff for the billion of people/animal living in this world. Why can't you just accept that things are runing by themself?

Right now you are saying the same stuff as I am. But you call it ''god'' or ''destiny'' when we call it ''choice'' and 'life''

so do you really think god decid for you what your next move will be?

Its not about GOD!

Your looking at destiny as something that must be manipulated by a higher power when in reality it is something no one and no thing can control. Unless you can see into the future which most people can't its impossible to control your destiny, it is fate.

Time does not exist at all. It is a creation of man inability to perceive everything at once. Therefore Everything that has happened, is happening, and will ever happen are already decided you just can't see them yet. The choices you will make and their outcomes are set in stone you just have to decide what they will be.

If someone tells you its your destiny to get hit by a car and jump out of the way that only means that person was wrong, that doesn't mean that because you jumped out of the way you defied your destiny because you can't, you choosing to jump out of the way was already set in stone.

Someone pointed out that if everything is predetermined there is no reason to live but thats BS because even if its predetermined that doesn't make it any less real and any less your choice.

Just because you believe in a certain destiny doesn't mean it's what yours actually is. That's why I don't believe in it, because even if you do, what does it matter? You're never going to know.

I believe we all make our own decisions in life. Where we end up is part decision, part environment, part chance. Destiny is a romantic idea we conjured to describe this journey in life.

Right now you are saying the same stuff as I am. But you call it ''god'' or ''destiny'' when we call it ''choice'' and 'life''

so do you really think god decide for you what your next move will be?

It's not I want to believe in it so bad. U are the one who denied it badly. U have the right to believe that it doesnt exist. But since then, u got a hole in your belief because u are not able to explain about predictions.

I believe it because I got proofs, I got the reasons. Talking about Ouija. I had a friend who broke up with her bf because of a specific reason which is exactly like what told a spirit of Ouija we called months ago. Prediction became true so I have no reason to doubt about what happened.

U always think "if I do this, if I do that... then this, then that". But u'll never know what u will decide to do. And what u decide to do is your fate. Everything is already set up.

About those who talked about time. Time doesnt exist. U cant see, nor feel, nor touch, not hear, nor smell time. Time is just a conception of what is happening. U'll never able to make a time machine to change your fate. I'll give u an example:
If u go the past to kill yourself. What do u think what will happen?
If u kill u, then u in the present wont exist, because u in the past died. But if u (in the past) died, then u (in the present) cant go to the past to kill yourself. Therefore, u (past) was not dead, so u (present) survive. But if u are still alive, u'll go to the past to kill... etc...
Such event is like a non-sense endless loop. So it's not possible to describe such event so time doesnt exist.

Quite honestly, your life is your life, and your choices are your choices and your choices alone. Just as things rarely happen by coincidence, your actions are your personal and own responsibility. Attributing your actions, whether good or bad, to destiny is just an intolerable excuse.

I don't like thinking that someone else is in control of my life other than me. I'm in control of my own life, and what happens in the future stems from the choices and actions that I make today.

Agree completely with the second paragraph. Destiny doesnt exist-no ones lives are predetermined, and changes according to our own actions. Even if destiny does play a role in our lives, I would say less than 10% of it has an influence on us.

Everything that happens to you is destiny. If you go out and get hit by a bus tomorrow that is your destiny. If you go and get a 500k a year job then that is your destiny aswell.

And I believe in God too. Anyone who doesn't is bitter and angry about something. :O

Destiny (fate) is minimal in your life. Both examples you write are things that you can control to make it happen/to make it not happen.

Not a very nice/accurate stereotype of people who dont believe in God. I do not like to affiliate myself with any religion because every religion is tainted with a history of warfare/corruption/death, not because I do not believe in God. Hey, I could be an atheist, but no-no one will ever know if a higher being exists.

So each and every one of us "uniquely created by God" are actually puppets made to be controlled by Him?
