If let's say that randomly does not happen and it goes to ground level ... you seriously think a wrestler has an advantage? Sure in the gym a good wrestler is a good wrestler, because there are rules. But on the street there are none, so expect to be groped, twisted and possibly stabbed.
Not trying to offend any wrestlers here but the only thing that will help you on the streets in a fight is bare knuckle boxing. Even karate ninja shit won't do any good if a 385lbs guy comes running at you with fists raised.

If you want a practical martial art that will win you any (unarmed) street fight, learn how to grapple. You can close, take down and lock/break the arm/leg of your opponent in seconds and it doesn't have as much to do with body size as you would think. Also, you'll know how to get out of headlocks or armholds if someone surprises you.
High school wrestling doesn't have much to do with grappling but as someone else mentioned, the wrestler would win pretty much any fight against an untrained fighter.
If you want fight training, look to jiu jitsu or pankration.

Capoeira is fun to watch. Its a highly choreographed dance that reminds one of the best fight scenes in any martial arts films. Not much practical use, but cool to look at.

I know that if someone pulls a knife in some sort of street fight, knowing how or not to wrestle probably won't change the outcome very much. Most likely I'll be ending up in a pool of blood waiting for the flies to come find me. But it's better than nothing, and I've already learned a lot of things - weak points and where to grab someone that I'd never thought of before. Last year, I'd just have kept on circling around him and trying to throw in a few punches. If he got close and grabbed me, I wouldn't know what to do but try to flop like a fish out of his grip. But now, I know how to get him into a headlock and then throw a chin and hook, toss him to the ground, and then pin him. If I'm just fighting some regular Joe at school, it's probably over by then. I don't think I'll get into a lot of scenarios where I have to fight Jet Li or something, so it's perfectly fine for me.
Also, I think I'm in it a lot for the discipline as well. I need exercise, and I hate exercising by myself. In the second semester, we get to hit the weight room quite a bit, and I'm hoping that I'll learn discipline during this course, at the very least, and how to exercise on a consistent basis. I always have had trouble doing that.
jet li is infact not as a great a fighter as u wuld think, his specialties were his broad sword tao lu and chang quan. Those were what he won national champ wit in China, he's never got a placing in san shou.
Brazilian Jiu jitsu? I always thought it was a variation of Jiu Jitsu.
Jiu jitsu maybe good with grapples but in grapples, esp. the more complicated ones, despite what you may think, it takes some strength to use it properly.
I suggest one of the following
Taekwondo: Very popular, not a lot of scammers, after 1 year your foot work should start coming to shape. Very good esp. if you have long legs, you can fight clever and keep your distance when fighting. Though very little use of fists.
San Shou: Very good it's like a big add up of all the CMA stuff, shuai jiao, (oldest martial art, the point of it is to get the other person on the ground) qin na (where jiu jutsu etc derived from), plus the punches and kicks
Muay Thai: it's not called the art of the eight limbs for nothing

TBH, I got the build. The wrestling coach came up to me twice last year asking me to join, as I had third period PE. He saw me and then... checked me out, lol, in the way that athletes do each other, and said that I'd make a good wrestler. So that's what inspired me to join this year, along with the fact that I think it's going to help me buff up. I'm willing to work. I just need some pointers.

I dont know, I dont wrestle, sorry, my school has like every club exept a wrestling club, which is really gay, I dont think theres any 'violence sports' such as boxing and that stuff, but football and aggressive sports are fine, me and all my friends would go to a park near school and box with gloves and helmets durning our lunch periods, its either first blood or give up or knock out, but we've never had someone willing to fight to KO, so its usually the 1st two, its banned from school, usually TDSB (our school branch) officials patroll the area, for smokers, gamblers and stuff weve been caught once, but it was 9 of us and one of her so she couldnt do anything to us, we would just split up and run, so she didnt even try lol, boxings fun

The most important thing is to find a style or technique that suits your body and your mindset. If you aren't comfortable in the style, you will not be successful. Also, training in ANY martial art will give you the upper edge in 99% of the fights you might get into.

what style is the dismount cavalry one, I've never heard of it.
Body size = Body weight = Using body weight as power = strength.
It really depends how much stronger he is, if you are half as strong as he is trust me, no matter what grapple you do it aint gonna work on him you just aint strong enough.
Despite what some people may think, they need to do a martial art for years and taste the first hand experience before they start sharing their martial arts experiences.

my advice go muay thai, ive been in kick boxing for like 6 years, and now went to muay thai, and all i have to say.. this is a perfect fighting style, everything is in use every single part of the body(except for one) xD
but seriously after 2 months of training in Muay Thai , i realized this style is deadly , and besides i like the name lol xD
anyways im not into wrestling or whatever is it, after watching some of the videos(show) it made me go sick every time i hear it...
of cource even in K1 there is wrestlers partipicating, but still im not into it :p
the most worst part of the wrestling show that everyone believes its real... just watch youtube "wrestling is fake" and ull find bunch of funny videos , which so represent this
Taek wondo is a really good style though lacks the arm usage, its based mostly on leg power, and arms are used to flee from dangerous moments , usually ull see them twisting around making some crazy ass moves with legs, it lacks close combats imho.. usually if somebody catchs him he wont really be able to get off
