I am not sure if that applied to not with *anyone* until they marry, or just that particular person. But anyway. There's still something a little creepy and in my opinion a little wrong about turning common sense and personal choice into an elaborate indoctrination ritual thing.
The way I see it any parent has the right to keep their kid from having sex, period, at least until the kid is 18 or gets a job and moves out of the house, if that's what the parent decides to do. But you should tell your kid the truth and at some point let them go work it out on their own because sex is a part of life as an adult, not life as a child. It's not the parent's jurisdiction.
They have a lower divorce rate because they don't know what else is out there because they only had sex with 1 person and never with anyone else.

Sex isn't dirty. Sex prolongs our existence. Sex bonds two people together. But it's a sacred thing, to me anyway and I think no girls should give it up until their damn sure, not because of 'he won't like me if I don't do this that'.
sure but now adays girl getting down and sucking someones big brown penis is not sacred

have you even had sex or been in love. The fact that you think having sex with other people will change how you truely feel about the person your dedicating your life to (marriage) is a reflection of why marriage are constantly failing
. That stupid mentality that you can only find out how great sex is by having it with as many ppl as possible + it should be the cornerstone of every relationship is why teen pregnancy, bastard children, fatherless kids, and the spread of STD's is on the rise.

Most marriages start with love, end because of sex. It just ends up that:
Pleasure > Love

I wouldn't say that. If two people truely love each other they surely could over come the lack of sexual pleasure. And you my friend, if you feel that way, you haven't found true love.

I kinda agree with that, because their marriage wasn't based on sex.
I'm waiting in my cold cell, when the bell begins to chime.
Reflecting on my past life and it doesn't have much time.
'Cause at 5 o'clock they take me to the Gallows pole,
The sands of time for me are running low.
Can it be that there's some sort of error.
Hard to stop the surmounting terror.
Is it really the end, not some crazy dream.

The article makes mention that these kids are making these pledges as young as 9 years of age. Personally, I wanted to be a pokemon master when I was 9... I wouldn't trust such a major 10+ year (hell, possibly life-long) decision to a 9 year old. Most likely, they're only saying they'll pledge so they can go through all the festivities and be a bit older, like every little kid wants to be. I doubt most of the really little kids that do this have any real idea of what they're doing. I don't think I'd even had sex-ed yet when I was 9...

I think they have a kids from 10 to 18 or whatever, not just a bunch of preteens, that would be freaky. But you do have a point there.

Its like when 12 year olds get baptized...i mean wtf i don't think they really understand what they're doing personally i didn't know anything about sex still i like 12 or 13 and i didn't even care about it till i got into high school
@AllEyezOnMe
you sir are a pitiful being if you think pleasure>love if anything they compliment each other. Does stuff like sex feel good, yes. Does it feel best coming from someone you love and knows you love them back, yes. Sex is a part of any mature healthy relationship but its not the corner stone of any successful one.

Can't say I see any point in that vow. I rather have a relationship with my kids (when that day comes
) where I know they are aware of how to protect themselves, they know what they are doing and not jumping into something because of pressure from friends and are not ashamed of talking about it if they feel they need to.

I'm not saying that about me but more or less humanity as a whole. How many people do you know still love each other the same way 40 years after they got married? Just check divorce rates in America................

OK... Are we talking about 'humanity as a whole' or 'America'?
There are a lot of factors that could break a marriage. For instance, lack of intimacy (not necessarily all sex), lack of communications, lack of financial security, stress from work, stress from children, or discovering a horrible side of their partner that they didn't know... The bottom line is, I think, people part way because they realize they're no longer soul mates. And it's not uncommon that people stay single after their get divorced.
Anyway, we're off topic.
