Wow, biting? What a gigantic pussy.
And I thought basketball flopping was bad.. forgot what happens out on the grass. Wind blows the wrong direction and half the players fall over grabbing their ankles and begin to cry, noiice.

It's my favorite sport and the most popular sport on the planet but god how I loath these so called professional players who try to con the referee to get an advantage...it sickens me without end...

Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 THREAD
They started fining players a few thousand dollars in the NBA for "flopping". Would it deter soccer players from "flopping" if they were going to be fined?
Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 THREAD
Probably.

Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 THREAD
In NBA "flopping" has a much smaller reward than diving does in soccer. You'd get what, a chance at 2 points out of like 70 points scored in a game? In soccer one penalty, along with a red card if the referee is especially daft, changes the whole match.
It'd probably stop the over-reacting and theatrics outside of the penalty box though, but in most of those cases there actually is contact so its kind of hard to judge when its a over reaction.

It's indeed hard to judge (in real time) since most players go down after a contact is made...FIFA should use post game video analysis more vigorously to slap players with suspensions when they simulate being fouled or getting hurt....Lets see how some of these players like sitting on the sidelines for the next 1-2 matches afterwards...

Oh I'm aware, but it doesn't make it any more fun to see. One of the first games, can't remember which, was decided on a flop that resulted in a PK. I don't keep up with the sport outside of the world cup (don't know how even if I wanted to, it gets no coverage on US television) but are they trying to do anything to combat this or do most fans not see it as much of a problem? Why not use replay technology on big calls like fouls within the box or instant red cards? Or even like ganja said, fines would probably cut down on some of the more lame flop attempts but wouldn't solve the game-changing problem entirely.

Re: FIFA WORLD CUP 2014 THREAD
Uruguay striker Luis Suarez has been suspended from all football-related activity for four months for biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.
Itchy teeth?England and Italy are blowing 'bite' storm out of proportion says Suarez's lawyer as pictures reveal disgraced striker's previous 'attack' on SAME player a year ago
Suarez pictured apparently trying to bite Chiellini 12 months ago
Incident came Italy v Uruguay match during Confederations Cup
Suarez appeared to have stuck again during World Cup match on Tuesday
He has been charged by Fifa and could be banned for up to two years
27-year-old Suárez claimed after game: 'He thrust his shoulder into me'
Chiellini, 29, claimed Suárez was a 'sneak' and bite was 'clear, clear cut'
Last year he faced 10-match ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic
In 2010 he was banned while playing for Ajax for a similar incident

Does that mean they beat Germany?

No. Germany won 1:0. It's just that Ghana and Portugal didn't have that many points and Portugal didn't win against Ghana by enough goals to endanger anyone else.

Top trolling on soccer. This is funny.

I agree on the part that soccer is really really lame, but if that's the sport someone's into, who am I to judge.

I don't know her significance to the sport at all but it's funny.

Yup my thoughts exactly....It's a pain sometimes to watch my favorite team making costly mistakes and not dominating most of their opponents like they should be...

Yet the soccer talk is year round, like every other brilliant sport "people" cant seem to get enough of.
I wake up every day at 6 am to do p90x, I am glad others are spending similar 12+ hours on tv mastering. Not like my approach is superior in any way.
