If a war does break out I hope the generals on either side are competent enough to bring about a swift end....something preferably along the lines of forcing the other side to submit/surrender (or initiating a surrender themselves) rather than having something dragged out costing more lives than it has to....

Surprised there hasn't been more discussion about this, but Ukraine has just mobilized troops to Crimea.

They have been mobilizing troops for a while now. Haven't heard of any of them being send to the Crimea yet. The Russians have an defensive line preventing them from getting in though.

As far as i heard. They've captured the main airbase which has around 40 MIG-29's in it. and they have captured an AA base. ( not sure about this yet)

Russia claims its not invading the Ukraine (according to news reports) and that it is exercising a bilateral agreement it had with the Ukraine to be there in times of crisis... I'm sure such an agreement became null and void in all the chaos that led up to this but Russia is using that as rationalization to do what they're doing...

Crimea and Sevastopol, where the Russian Black Sea fleet is based, are now part of the Russian Federation, it said.

Russia’s support for Crimea’s secession bid, which follows a contested referendum on Sunday, has been condemned by Ukraine’s interim government in Kiev, the European Union and the United States.

Ukraine’s interim President Oleksandr Turchynov told reporters that Putin is “mimicking the fascists of the last century” by annexing Crimea.
