Re: The Hobbit
LOTR >>>>>> Harry Potter.
LOTR is more of a saga. Tolkien's fantasy and how he worked everything out is just unbelievable. But most of you guys didn't read the books, so you don't actually know how fcking epic LOTR actually is.

I've read all Lord of the Rings books, Silmarillion and The Hobbit, and I can say that when it comes to epicness, Tolkien's works beat the crap out of the Harry Potter series, however I did enjoy the Harry Potter books as well.

I agree with this a little better. I watched the lotr movie and hated it... but i think i would enjoy the book. I liked the harry potter books that i read but the movies were pretty good too (emma watson enough said.)
I think its quite hard if you are comparing the books or the films because both of them are taken differently. hobbit is like a 300 page book split into 3 movies... prisoner of azkaban was like 300 pages made into just 1 film. different adaptations.

Re: The Hobbit
I'm not sure if its because its 2 in the morning, and I am not reading your posts correctly penfold, but LoTR is 3 books made into 3 films, all about 3 hours long and the hobbit one book, 3 hours long. But how can anyone compare Harry Potter to LoTR, as Harry Potter is written for children!

Re: The Hobbit
I thought it was a great movie but yea I agree there was a little too much humor but I think in the 2 other Hobbit movies that are going to be coming out its going to get more serious.

Re: The Hobbit
I actually thought the humor was okay, the books got some humor in them so I see no reason to not have it in the movies. The movie was great, but not as great as the first 3. LOTR 10/10, The Hobbit 8.5/10

Re: The Hobbit
I liked hobbit a lot better than LOTR : D.
It felt like much more of an adventure. And throughout the whole movie I was experiencing seizures of nostalgia

was a good game ~__~
but seriously. The LOTR films somehow always bored me... As though they were needlessly drawn out.
Maybe I'm just not a war movie guy :|

Not quite what I meant, but can't remember what penfold was talking about. But I'm sure he was saying that LoTR is one book made into three films...
But again Harry Potter books for children, LoTR books for adults! How can you really compare the two?
Re: The Hobbit
Watched the hobbit..wasn't too impressed....wasn't as epic as LOTR...some of the scenes in it seemed irrelevant... like when the huge rock mountain men/monsters started to fight by tossing huge rocks at each other and throwing punches...I was like uh!?..wtf!?..

Re: The Hobbit
LOTR drawn out? The Hobbit (Part 1 I might add) was the definition of drawn out. They made a 3rd of a book into a 3 hour movie! I enjoyed it though

Re: The Hobbit
I was worried that the ending would be a cliff hanger and it was. But it could of been A LOT WORSE. It was worth while watching although as said above, its somewhat not as serious.. Hopefully that's fixed in the coming parts.
