The video reveals something important about the human condition. And that is when we look at things as black and white we start to suffer. It's almost impossible for all of us to not eat meat. The video should be focusing on the harsh treatment of animals and exploring ways to reduce it which I can agree with. Not trying to convert.

Our society is too woven together and interdependent for anyone to take any advocate too seriously on this matter as situation like this makes hypocrites of nearly everyone. Without industrial animal farming we wouldn't be able to feed the nation. When you have 300 million people, free range chicken farms just don't cut it.

You see on television that egg farms often have some 5 million hens in 5 industrial hen houses and the conditions in which they live out their lives. It is sad, but in all honesty, I like eggs. Alot. Despite the amount of cholesterol in eggs, they are high in protein, low in calories and cheaper than dirt. And I don't wanna pay 10$ a carton for them either.

The same goes for chicken meat. A boneless chicken breast has about 110 calories. Thats 1/3 the amount of calories in a McDouble sandwich

The last part of the picture is that propaganda groups show you the worst case scenarios. Reputable farms treat their animals in a very humane manor. Animals have been eating animals since the Cambrian era. We are no different. We are just better at it.

I admit, I did feel pretty bad for the snow leopard at the zoo. One of the worlds rarest animals, trapped in an 8x8 box. On the other hand, it felt amazing to look upon one. I dont think most visitors understand that there is only about 5000 of these left. At least at the zoo nobody will shoot him. heh

I had a long discussion about this with 2 philosophy majors. One is a carnivore omnivore and the other is a strict vegan (except if the animal dies from natural causes, apparently, then she'll eat it). I came to the conclusion that: I don't like that we eat animals despite the fact that we can get our protein from non-animal products. However, I'm a sucker for the taste of meat and I'm way too lazy to push myself to get used to consuming legumes and beans for protein.

Well the other alternative to the zoo is getting extinct for some animal species due to hunt or destruction of their natural environment. So the zoo option can be the lesser of 2 evils in come cases.

I am vegan, there is nothing unhealthy about being vegan.

I don't eat meat, haven't done so in 17 years, I don't drink/eat milk products and I don't eat eggs. This is my choice to do so, I won't argue the fact that most on here eat meat, that is their choice, and I will respect that, as long as people respect why I am vegan. There is just so much cruelty in the world, and I cannot buy into that. I don't wear leather, or wool or silk, I don't use any products that are tested on animals.

Some animals were then slaughtered by making a swift, deep incision with a sharp knife on the neck cutting the jugular veins and the carotid arteries of sides as well as the trachea and esophagus (Islamic Method). Other animals were stunned using a Captive Bolt Pistol (CBP). During the experiment, electroencephalograph (EEG) and electrocardiograms (EKG) recorded the condition of the brain and the heart of all animals. The results were as follows:

1. During the first three seconds after slaughtering, the EEG did not record any change, thus indicating that the animal did not feel any pain during or immediately after the incision.

2. For the following three seconds, the EEG recorded a condition of deep sleep unconsciousness. This is due to the large quantity of blood gushing out of the body.

3. After this total of six seconds, the EEG recorded zero level, showing no feeling of pain at all.

4. As the brain message (EEG) dropped to zero level, the heart was still pounding and the body convulsing vigorously (a reflex action of the spinal cord) driving maximum blood out of the body.
Stunning
1. The animals were apparently unconscious soon after stunning but the EEG showed severe pain immediately after stunning.

2. The heart of the stunned animal stopped beating earlier than the one slaughtered the Islamic way thus resulting in the retention of more blood in the meat.

Professor Schultz and Dr. Hazim of the Hanover University in Germany concluded the following through an experiment:
Islamic way of slaughtering is the most humane, compassionate and sympathetic method of slaughter (no pain, deep sleep recorded due to the large quantity of blood gushing out from the body), and that the captive bolt stunning practiced by the Western methods causes severe pain to the animal.

Meat eater and im happy with how things are, in these videos they show the extremes of the industry the ones who are either not following the systems rules or following them so close to the breaking point there is no difference. For the majority of my meat i know where abouts its from and if i wanted i could even go the farm, i dont go out to buy this meat specially large supermarkets have taken onboard the cruel conditions they are exposed to and forced a change, orangic food is always kept in the best conditions, free range eggs, farm assured meats and poultry, ocean farmed fish.

Here in england you will find it harder and harder to get food that comes from places anywhere near as bad as that video demonstrates, hell i work in a supermarket and each piece of meat that arrives on my counter has a vetenary number/info so you can trace that piece of meat not only to the farm but the specific animal and vet that treated it.

Vegan diets are thawrt with their own difficultys one been you have to find alternative sources of protein and other goodness that often comes from animals although the vegan diet is possible there are countless people who fall ill from the diet due to been ill informated and given bad or wrong infomation which means they are losing out on important dietry needs, pregant women should always consider even if its temp going back to eating mean and the child should be fed meat if later when its old enough to choose it wants to go vegan so be it by that point they have a fully developed brain and oragans.
