Re: Facebook..
the profile page is the timeline.
You can choose a cover for it.
It's actually pretty nice.
You can get the timeline update now and its pretty cool but weird.

Re: Facebook..
Privacy, it's shrinking more and more with each update, yes you can hide whatever you want from other users but you can't hide it from Facebook, I guess now they have the biggest personal information database in the world, a lot of rumors said that mark is using that to make more $$, which makes me put a red line for what I share on Facebook, if you think it doesn't matter can you post your street address, phone number, daily activities and family pictures on SRF, don't think so because it will be shown to strangers, same for Facebook.
Timeline is a pretty cool feature but its making your life less private.

do you have any idea what information they use before you start saying stuff like that, otherwise this will quickly head down conspiricy nazi control road.
the information they can use is likes, key words ie if you say tuna in your status you will quickly notice ads based around that start popping up around you, they can use your demographic boy/girl and age, your name, phone number, address, relationship status is useless to them

Re: Facebook..
I hate these changes and I hate google+ that whole circle thing sucks, I post a picture and my friend can repost it to a bunch of people that I dont know so that they can see my silliness without me saying that they can see it? Such a horrible concept and I wish they never invented google+ cause then facebook wouldnt be changing so much. Give me the facebook from 09 when I started college. Give me back the facebook that you could put anything on it and future employers would never check. Give me back my facebook that only accepts college students so I can stop having my dad's wife comment on my pictures.
Is that so much to ask for?

Re: Facebook..
i follow a simple rule if i dont want someone to see something or hear something i wont put it online, even if you dont have someone as a friend in the 09 facebook it was possible to see it just a lot harder and a lot of luck involved ie been friends of a friend.
I find this so funny that every change posted has opposition, i myself have had a rant at some previous changes but at the end of the day they worked fine and i just got used to it and you will again with these changes.
People who get fired or offend people online simply dont understand the concept of free sharing which is the internet anything you post on the internet could ultimatly be under discression of every other person on the internet so its back to my simple rule dont post what you dont want people to know. you do the same in real life you dont go to a crowded pub and talk about deeply personal issues you have a 1 to 1 chat

I'm not talking about this use, a 800 million person's personal information can be used for more than just ads preferences, if you can notice I said there's some "rumors", nothing confirmed but it's possible.

I always find it amusing when people start spreading rumors about how facebook is going to start charging people to use FB.

Privacy on facebook is fine. You choose what gets out by willingly putting it on there. Don't want people knowing your address? Don't put it on facebook. Herp derp.

Not sure if you're asking where I got that rumor from, or not.
In any event, I saw some silly chain-status thing going around, dismissed it instantly. But the official FB page actually commented about it, and how they'd never charge. So yeah.

Oh, I also don't get why people are so concerned about their privacy. Tis' a tad bit ridiculous.

That's not really the point, though. Facebook provides a service to us in order to make money from advertisement and those silly flash games. If we, the customers, didn't exist than they wouldn't either. If they want to continue shoving advertisement down our throats than they need to provide to us a service that meets our requirements and satisfies our interests. If they don't and if they provide shocking service, than we, the customers, will just simply leave.
Our right to complain and our ability to do so fuels better website development and ultimately creates a better environment for us achieve our social networking desires. If we didn't complain, how would we let them know when they aren't doing a good job? If anything, we are doing them a favour and our feedback is fuelling their prosperity.

but what your failing to realise they dont make these changes on whim they will look at what the site is lacking, consider what to do, plan it, sometimes even put it to a small group first all before fully implimenting it to the whole site. thats how good websites come to be careful consideration, facebook is huge changes would have been easier early on but now iv noticed they will sometimes offer an opt in function this is almost a beta its a testing period before fully applying the change they did it with a few in the past this change tbh now im used to it dont bother me the top story one im mean as for the time line i like the idea of it i mean i often take a stroll down memory lane on my own profile and like to check out the history girls on facebook too, ie if they split up with a bf 1week before meeting me or just finding out random crap, i would do it to my mates been the few im bothered about i know everything about i just look though their pictures. so point been im a sad git who will prolly like the change

Re: Facebook..
They are giving us a FREE service, they don't have to put these silly flash games for us to play and I am sure most people don't even take any notice of the adverts, I sure don't. They don't have to do updates, trying to make this FREEservice better for us to use. They'll probably make more updates soon anyway, so just get over it!
