I see I am becoming more like Shakespeare every day, such talent. Time to invest time in a book deal, a flawless plan.
Spoiler!
I guess I spared no consideration to others writing that one last bit =o
Guild Wars 2, Isle of Janthir (NA)
Peace is a lie, there is only passion. Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken.
Society is f*cked....we're all malleable and easy to be conditioned. Especially in the first few years of life. I can't blame the shooter nor the guy who got shot. It's just sad to see really.

Although it's no excuse for his actions, his upbringing and environment is probably very different from that of most people which lead him to resort to extreme measures. Bigotry affected these kids from different angles. The victim started provoking others as a form of retaliation by owning up to his sexuality - he probably got tired of being brought down all the time so what better way to get revenge than to do the complete opposite.
As for those in the forum who will quickly resort to violence when provoked verbally, grow up. No, it doesn't make you seem more like a man - just someone with the mentality of an impulsive child. Sticks and stones. Laugh it off and walk away, take it as a joke like most educated social adults do. Not like some high school drop-out from the projects would.

the real children are those that think violence doesn't solve anything. in what kind of dreamworld are you living? violence is a part of our society and if you fail to understand or accept that, you're ignorant. and not everyone that starts a fight does so because he wants to be more of a man, sometimes you just don't have another choice. if someone is harassing or insulting me, I will gladly give them a punch. not because I want to proof myself, just because I want the other guy to never mess with me again. and oh yeah, ''like most educated social adults'' = LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL.
note: I'm not talking about this incident, but in general.
''When I die, make sure they bury me upside down, so that the world can kiss my ass.''
And yet, did a single one of them report it? From what it sounds like, no, he just decided to get a gun and shoot the kid. This was a fail on the parents of the kid making the gun easy to access, the kid for being a complete fucking retard and shooting him, the gay kid for rubbing his homosexuality into other people's face, and pretty much every single kid that had a problem with his actions and didn't report it to the faculty. If it was reported, then strike that, and it's a failure on the faculty as well.
Quoted from BuDo (Except I Am Vegeta cuz we all know he is a used tampon when it comes to his personality)

Hence why someone punching him in the face would not receive an expulsion..

I was talking about this incident (or similar ones), not in general. I never said that violence is never a necessity; in this case, one party could easily walk away and not lose anything. I don't think you've considered your options carefully if you think you have none other than resorting to inflicting physical harm. I'm not saying you should let the person harass and insult you - if you want to fight words with words, go ahead. If they throw the first punch, then by all means, defend yourself. But what you don't do is go straight from verbal abuse to punching the other person. Please, control your id.
Here's a good line from one of the good books I read: "For to win one hundred victories in one hundred battles is not the acme of skill. To subdue the enemy without fighting is the acme of skill."

that's what the police always says lol. but I won't wait until I've received the first punch, I'd like to be on time and take the other dude out before he has a chance to punch me. and imo sometimes verbal abuse is even worse than physical abuse. I'd 10000 times rather have someone beat the shit out of me than to hear him say bad things about my mother or father. there are things that can't be said or done to you. for each person those are different things. I can imagine that if someone told you he was going to rape your mother, you would go all crazy on that person. apparently for the shooter the words ''I love you'' coming from a gay person made him go all crazy. that's why I said that sometimes you feel like you just don't have an option.
and I'm not saying this because I approve violence, but I just want to make clear that people that use violence feel like that they don't have a choice. and it has hardly to do with anything like showing of or feeling more like a man.

Point well taken. I don't completely agree that it's the best route to take but as far as justification goes, I understand that everyone has their own verdict on that - but understand and accept the implications of your actions. And no, if someone said they're going to rape my mother to me, I'm probably gonna tell them to go fuck themselves out of anger or in a good day, ignore it. They're just words and they only mean shit if you let them get to you.
