Not a care regarding them in my life but I do like to stick to dating other "white" people, just my preference, this not to say I wouldn't marry/have kids with someone of another race if they were my special someone ( On another hand I would never consider a serious relationship with someone unhealthy/fat ).

it isn't a bad thing, but it isn't good either. Interracial marriage will eventually water down rich, unique cultures, and languages will disappear. Of course we are talking like centuries down the road. Plus, any multi-racial kid has it tough in our time. Stuck in between two worlds, unappreciated by both.

When i was younger I wanted to be with a girl from a different race because i thought they were more attractive and whatnot. (im chinese) But somehow i ended up with a Chinese girl whom i plan to marry.

That said I think that interracial relationships are fine and I'm not opposed to it or think its weird, its whatever makes them happy. As for the poster that said that kids of mixed races grow up difficult; A bunch of kids that are mixed turn out to be very beautiful... A lot of super models are mixed races.

Edit: I think that being in a mixed relationship you learn a lot more about different races and you learn to tolerate other people. You also experience new things that build character.

Because interracial marriage effectively removes the barrier inbetween cultures? More people speaking english, more people eating hamburgers, and more people watching american football..just means more americans and less of anyone else.

And its easy to say that nobody is really discriminatory against multi-racial people. The truth is, it isn't. You think its easy being stuck in between two cultures? Unless the person is living in america where nobody really cares, theres plenty of discrimination elsewhere. I'm asian and in east asia for sure, multi-racial people aren't exactly welcome there. Ethnic unity is big in Korea, japan, and in general other countries where its a very homogeneous demographic (meaning..99.99999% of the people are the same race)

Just saying, people don't try to fit into both worlds and if they do they usually do just fine. Why does interracial automatically mean american. Also why can't people of mixed heritage learn to apprciate both sides of their family. You make it sound like its impossible. People of different religions get married all the time without losing the identity of the religion they belong to. Race works the same one. You spend summer with your grandparents in Europe and you spend Christmas with your grandparents in Asia.

I don't think anyone who is thinking would say that people of mixed race aren't discriminated. People discriminate against those of single race as well. I really don't see the point of this. Are you saying mixed races get more discrimination, because that depends on alot of things and in some cases they get alot less. You don't see alot of pure black women with modeling careers but you do see alot of mixed one, ones with lighter skin tend to do better.

Thats not true as well. Being american means different things to different people and it rarely factors in where marriage is concerned as far as parents are concerned. Im sure we all know enough of Jewish-American, African-American, Asian-Americans, etc who would not approve of their children dating people of a different race. That type of thought process is universal. There are alot of people who feel that by marrying someone of a different race you're turning your back on the preservation of your own.

The truth is culture is not eternal and people who try to preserve it at the expense of happiness are just being foolish. Hundreds of cultures of died out or mixed something being lost forever and sometimes creating a new even greater culture. Cultures are like evolution and the most successful one will always be the last one standing. Its up to us to determine what traits from our cultures we choose to pass on and what ones we give up and whether you are mixed race or not you will have to make that decision. Does that mean that the world will end up entirely American, no, but there are traits from American culture worth spreading and passing on...

Can you explain this mentality a bit more just so i can understand the thought process behind it?

What does marrying someone of the same race accomplish that marrying someone of a different race would not?

How would you be letting your family down if you married someone of a different race? Does what your family thinks of who you're dating mean so much to you that would turn down someone who is completely compatible with you only they're a different race?

Well a lot of multiracial people don't try to fit into both worlds, and there really is no reason to when you live in America. What I mean is that its easier to be multiracial in america than other countries. For example if a person is half white/half asian and living in America, its easier for them to assimilate there compared to them traveling to their asian country and trying to fit in there when they don't speak the language/don't know the culture, etc.

I know a number of multiracial friends/people and they generally have an interest in both their mother countries but for the most part are comfortable as regular american people.

I agree that there are a lot of americans that disagree with interracial marriage, what I meant was that its easier for multiracial people to live in america compared to other countries, thats all.

Trying to assimilate into a different culture/area without knowing the customs, languages, laws, etc. of the land is going to be difficult for anyone, regardless of their race.
