Really? I can't imagine them doing a system like that, it is so easy to have a downfall. because of parties not agreeing.

The US because has a 2 party system and one party currently controls both the Administration and the Legislative bodies and they're still falling apart at the seams...a multi-party system gives people more options and stances to choose from and while it is possible for disagreements between parties to cause a fallout and a shift in gov't that sounds alot better than having a disagreement between parties halting progress of the administration indefinitely.

Think about it this way. Right now the Democrats have all the power and they're ignoring the people and sucking big time so who are you going to vote for next time, the Republicans? They'll just do the exact same thing just probably a little worse because they'll get things done, just things that don't help out the middle class. Now with their party system one party disagrees with another and the whole coalition falls apart meaning that now the people get to vote on complete shift in gov't and they actually have options to choose from that will actually run things differently, maybe not better but different at the very least. Because it seems like it would be very hard for a single party to control everything the gov't must always compromise which means that different parts with different idea must find a common ground if they hope to get anything done.

a bit more chaotic but it forces compromise which i like and it gives the people more options which i like. Also if ever there should be a disagreement essentially a mini-revolution occurs and the ruling coalition is overthrown and a new one is formed, this is essential to the gov't as it assures it never because too overpowered that it can't be stopped (like the Dems or the Reps) and it provides a better representation of the way the people are feeling which could be a good or bad thing but is essential to a representative democracy...

thats just what i've been able to gather from this and the current news reports...

I am starting to think America is gonna switch the majority party every 2-4 years now. The American people want things done quick, and it just doesn't seem like one party can do it in 2-3 years so they will just keep switching between Republicans and Democrats, I personally think Republicans will take over this years election.

Um, just to clarify (and i should know this because im a
comparative political science major ) the right wing isn't libertarian, in fact, they're far from it. they have their own part of the political spectrum. you have to stop thinking of politics in one dimension, it's just not left vs. right.



those are the four main political corners of the spectrum. also, the horseshoe theory comes into play here, which says the extremes of left-right political spectrum are very similar to each other. therefore, what you have here are closet fascists, not libertarians

sadly, that's the case in the US as well. the Democrats are the closet socialists, the republicans are closet fascists, and the libertarians, who are the anti-government pro-market constitutionalists and get a 10-10 score on economic and personal liberties, get labeled as conspiracy theorists. there is no more fair competition in the US, we just vote to see who can screw up the country fastest

Well it gets a bit tricky for me considering 'Liberaal' is what we call the right wing parties.
Also, it's not as cut and dry that right is immediately conservative. Holland is one of the most progressive countries in the world. Right wing parties have been advocates for gay marriage and gay rights, so it's hard to use that political spectrum as a clear method to analyze the parties.

Don't worry, IF he gets to be PM (which won't happen) he will not achieve anything. His idea's are way to radical, and he won't get other party's convinced to change the law. He probably won't even get a majority cabinet because other party's don't want to be in a coalition with him.
The thing I believe is that PVV voters don't really vote for PVV, but against the current (not anymore now lol) government because they did so shitty. Of course there are also a lot of stupid voters that think that when Wilders is PM, he will solve all the problems instantly.
I'm in great doubt which party to vote for, because they just don't appeal to me. I lost faith in CDA PvdA & CU. GL and Party for the Animals (yes we really have a party like that ) are shitty to, and PVV is againts all those party's too.
So I can understand Wilders voters but Wilders should just be in the opposition, because 'de beste stuurlui staan aan wal'. He can shout things people want to hear in the media to get voters, but he can't change anything so it is useless to vote for him.

It's funny that the polls show PVV as #2 party, but you can't really ever find someone that
votes for them. I guess it's also because you're either "with them, or against them".

I voted for Wilders at the European Union elections. That is because i think Wilders should have a little bit of power in the politics. Its the same in the Dutch politics. I DO NOT think Wilders should be Prime minister, but i think he should be in the opposition so he can give suggestions about changes that he thinks need to happen. The liberal parties such as SP i will never vote for. Not being a racist or anything, but there need to be less immigrants coming here.. whenever you're in public there's some foreigner not talking the language or acting like crap like most young boys from especially Morroco...
I sometimes do not feel safe in public whenever there's a large group of them, and i think there's need to be some changes with that.

I've just finished to read something about this guy.

I'm not much of an expert about foreign policy, but what shocked me the most are two things, if not three.

First, you clearly stated that you met no one who would vote PVV (how to translate freedom in dutch? ), yet it seems to be the first party in the Netherlands. This makes me think of how people up there are so totally confused. They're ashamed to vote someone mass medias picture as ultra-nationalist, islam-hater and xenophobic -at least towards some people- like they -the people- knew they're doing some wrong, almost illegal. Here in Italy -at the very moment- people vote Right either 'cause they're paid by the PM himself -yes, they are..- or because they have no clue of how things are going up. They vote Left simply 'cuz they do not want this guy we have right now as PM to rule over them -so far he's only done things to avoid trials-.
There's no much of ideals anymore, 'but one party, which is just xenophobic and also hates South Italy -omg, yes!-. Oh, and some of their militants are ministers.

Secondly, I don't really get all this hatred towards other cultures, other religions and this attempt to preserve your own country. For goodness sake, we're in the 21st century now and we are -or at least should try our best to be- a global society. If you kick other people from your own country, you'll be kicked from the global society as well. That just doesn't make sense. There's no culture representance nowadays, all of your country identity belongs to the past.

Last, this one also about hatred. Towards Wilders, though. He's recieved threats and such, but does he even conceive why? It's just the same in Italy. Last December, our PM got attacked by some psycho dude with a statue and got several wounds on his face. They all went like: "OMG! Look at this guy. He votes for socialists, it's an attempt of the Left party to kill our beloved (<- beloved???) PM!". That's all they could say. They didn't realize that what his government had done that far was saving our PM's butt. He didn't help Italians that much and they feeled frustated. But also remember -even though I don't like doing it- that this act was committed by a psycho man.

Kay, I spoke too much about Italy.

From me, all the bests that this guy won't win.
