Even though some points were made to make people look bad, it was factual...
I can't really said anything was made up in this video. They just showed the negative side of what has happened in the past 300 years.

Well that's a lie.
I wasn't scared, and I'm not Christian.
How is some of your good friends and neighbors all of a sudden being killed while they were just at their every day desk job NOT scary? You obviously didn't lose anyone close to you in those attacks.

Considering U.S.A. is damn near a whole continent itself... in any case, nearly every country in Europe has had atrocities committed sometime in the distant past. Germany/Italy are just more recent events. Britain has had some, the Romans, I'm sure there's others I'm not thinking of right now.

Re: History of the USA
Population of USA: 300+ million (projected 307 million in 2010)
Population of Canada: 33 million
Population of Mexico: 110 million
Yes, I purposely left out much of Latin America. If you really want me to calculate out the #'s, I suppose I could do so. It should be more than Canada, but less than Mexico (I believe). Did a rough calc quickly, should be around 50 million, but they for some reason tend to include countries in SA.
Breakdown of some of the higher populated states:
Population of New York: 20 million
Population of California: 37 million
Population of Texas: 24 million
So yeah, I don't think it's that underserved to compare USA to Europe when in reality, the United States is 3/5ths of the population of the continent.
Oh, and if you're going to make a history of the US, why not include the Tuskagee Syphillis "Experiment". To me, that's more of a black mark (excuse my unintended pun) than our random, crazy, now not in office president.
EDIT: Here's a link for those of you who have no clue what I'm referring to. http://www.tuskegee.edu/Global/Story.asp?s=1207586

Re: History of the USA
On top of the populations, the United States is larger than Europe. I would say it is a fair comparison based on the populations and the size of the landmasses.

I agree with this. People who hate america should turn around and look at the negative side of their own countries. And they should be ashamed of themselves, its america that saved the world in WWII and other times.

Re: History of the USA
I guess England and it's colonies, Canada taking the beaches alongside the Americans had no effect. Russia taking Eastern Europe must have had no effect as well.
Re: History of the USA
When will people learn that trying to attack Russia in the winter is a terrible idea? First Napoleon and then Hitler. -_-

Weird. It was Russia who made the last raid to Berlin forcing German to surrender. But I guess that's not big deal.

maybe I should rephrase what I posted so I don't make myself look like a rah-rah USA nutbag. America was one of the major contributors to the end of WWII and the fall of Nazist germany.
Anyways, my point was that the people who look down on america should be grateful for the things the US has done for the world. And for those who think thats an arrogant statement, you really do need a history lesson. Who supplied soviet union's weapons/equipment? Who planned and spearheaded d-day? Who stopped japan from destroying the pacific world?
And you know whats funny? America even loaned money to germany and japan after they got beaten up from the war. If russia or china destroyed a country in a war, do you think they will send aid to help them afterward? Or do you think they will invade that country and sit in there? (Russia --> south ossetia, and China --> tibet)
DumboDii wrote:Actually if my memory serves me right America had retreated from WWII before it was ended.
Japan was the last axis enemy to surrender and when they surrendered WWII ended. They were fighting in the pacific and after getting nuked twice they surrendered. Wait - who did they surrender too?

That's true I didn't remember that.
But still saying that America ended WWII was just stupid. And I'd say Russia played bigger role on defeating Germany.

I'd say the Russian winter played the biggest role.

Anyways, my point was that the people who look down on america should be grateful for the things the US has done for the world. IMO, america makes a lot of careless mistakes (iraq anyone??) but at least America's effort in international contributions is in the name of peace and democracy even though othes outside the US may not think so in some cases.
So it doesn't matter how many countries we start wars in, promote terrorism in, remove democratically elected leaders, or support dictators in as long as we say we're doing it for peace and democracy....even if the people in those countries only foolishy see it as us condemn them to hell for a decade or two...

I almost feel sorry for the germans. Right when you want to invade a country it just has to be the worst winter in centuries haha
