I guess it's a coincidence that I have the numbers 1-9 in there. I originally was trying to break it down into all 3's, or as many as I could. I just expanded the numbers out to make it all look complicated, but it reduced back to the original 189 * 789 problem.

Seems to me we're all blabbering about short cuts, or ways to simplify different math problems (or make them more complicated as per my birthday cake thing above).

Want to know if any number is divisible by 3? Add the sum of the digits. If the sum is divisible by 3, so is the original number. You can do that recursively.
