Re: Another PC building thread
Just a suggestion, a AMD card might do better, haven't really looked at any artistic stats but for years and years AMD (ATI) was ahead on displaying RGB colors, seems to be sharper and more accurate. Might not be the case anymore though. This is if you are really serious about video and picture editing. Not sure why you would want to pay ~$500 per GTX295 either but that's your choice. Also the PSU, it is solid, but may want to take a look at wattage requirements and the amperage needed. Though that being said you should be ok with that, it being a high end PSU the power will be cleaner than most so you can push it a bit more. Think that PSU has a 40A rating, which should work, believe a 295 calls for anywhere from 40-50A.

I have the megahalems in there, but since the graphics card haven't arrived yet I can't tell you any temps. I know that it touches the CPU very nice, my MX-2 got spread out really well and covers the entire CPU

I had an ATI card before, but I disliked the drivers, and support. I had a better experience before with an Nvidia card.
The PSU is definitely enough, most reviews say that it could also be branded as an 1,1 or 1,2 KW PSU, since it is able to delivers those wattages to some extent. Each of the 12v rails delivers 40A, so in total it delivers 80A. I put the GTX 295's on different rails so it will be fine

For rails, you divide the watts by 12v like (watts)/12. But its definitely enough either way. It doesn't equal to 80A, if it did most PSUs could equal that or more. That;s kinda like people saying they have a quad core 2.4Ghz so that makes it a 9.4Ghz. Like i said it being a higher end unit, it will definitely do better than others. Corsairs are very solid, though most PSUs can put out above their wattage, its the quality of the power that counts. In this case your good though.

500W/12V=41 2/3 amps for each card then. Electricity is one of the hardest things ever.
But yeah it'll be enough

performs better than the original, is cheaper, and the first one had problems with it's sas controllers. cost/performance aside one of the reasons why i am going with this mobo is couse it has a 1 slot gap between the 2 main x16 lanes for better cooling in sli/xfire setups ( not many motherboards posses this feature ). another nice little plus is that it has linux built in, not that ill use it, but why not. finally is easy to work it and that is always a good thing.

I had to decide between this board and the gigabute ex-58 ud5. But I choose the latter because the 6 sata ports were just not enough for me, I need at least 7 if not more.

I was gonna buy the Asus P6T SE at first.
This is a fixed version of the one you described as the original one.
Now that I mention this, I should have
The P6T SE is quite a bit cheaper than the Deluxe V2 and has all the features that I need for my own build.
Oh well. It's a newer and better version, can't be that bad.

Why oh why do you need sli 295's? A 295 can already run games at max resolutions...

IF you're a gamer you really need to get Razer or SteelSerries gaming gear (i mean mouse, keyboard, mousepad) gammers call it "unfair advantage". But they're right, because gaming gear of those two companies are famous for mouse precision and stuff like this.
Anyway nice pc Gl with it

Well true, good mouse needs to be expensive, and don't blame designers for their work, just because mouse looks flashy.By the way did you heard about Razer death adder? That's legendary mouse cuz it's so comfortable and made special for gaming. Besides it looks good. here some screenies:

atm it can, but what about next year, or the year after that. I know DX11 is coming this fall, but I'd rather skip the first buggy generation of DX11 cards.
Azilius wrote:Can an i7 even keep up with 2 295's without bottle necking..?
That's why i'll overclock it to atleast 3.6Ghz, maybe even higher if I do get watercooling

Well, prices are low because shops can't get rid of their supplies. So some things are really cheap in comparison to last year

My ASUS P5Q-Deluxe has its own built in OS, it's not linux, but does have a windows-like desktop, web browser, and several other apps. Really handy if you're having hardware problems. One of my drives in my Raid-0 array died and I used the built in OS, was handy.
I have the Razer Diamonback, love it.
I'll let you guys argue over the over-kill, which cpu/gpu/mobo is better.. it's too late for that. =P

I'm still thinking you'll bottleneck at 1920x1080++..Not enough to matter but enough to make the second card semi-useless.

Your i7 will be bottlenecking because of the GTX295's.
I personally believe you'll have issues because it'll be quad GPU's.
Your wattage might not even actually cut it now that I think of it.

We'll see, I first did a rough calculation with the PSU calculator on the internet. Then I asked some people over at hardforum and xtremesystem if the hx1000w would cut it and they all thought it was enough. We'll see how far it gets.
If the i7 will be clocked at at least 3.6Ghz I don't think it'll bottleneck, and at this would draw around 700 watts out of the socket. Just take a look at this article, http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-g ... ming-test/

you should buy some cheap cards instead and wait for DX11 cards in October from ATI or 1st quarter 2010 from nVidia. get like 2x gtx280 sli?
