Windows Firewall sucks, i didn't have any problems since i used Comodo and Avira on this computer.
NOD32 is also good.

I don't any kind of defense software on my pc, all it takes is not being a newb.

You could always put up a network firewall if you have a spare PC. IPCop is supposed to be pretty good I hear.

That way all of your computers are protected and they aren't bogged down by a host-based firewall. Personally, I just use the firewall that's included in my linksys router.

Edit: Or there's always good ol' IPTables.
