I wasn't being literal. And I was talking in a much broader sense.

Of course wars aren't won by nukes anymore and nor would any nation justify the use of a nuclear missile or bomb today without seriously considering mutual destruction. Did you really think I meant that "irresponsible" nations like China or Iran would literally use nukes to eliminate enemy states once they were able to do so? Of course not.

What does it mean to own functional nuclear warheads? It signifies that your country is a "nuclear" country - a symbol of power and technological advance. It also means that your country needs to much more responsible and honest when it comes to owning nuclear weapons. Because once you obtain nukes, it usually means that your nation is a developed country, a world "power" (with the exception of N. Korea and Iran...no one considers them to be a power). China definitely owns nukes and Iran is close to completing development, if they don't have it already.

I was talking about the "what if" of if China or Iran was in a position of world dominance like the US. It would be an ugly world. You can disagree with me as much as you like, but face it - the world is a much better place with the US as the underdog than would be with China as the superpower. Would you trust China or Iran, or even Russia, to lead the world? Yeah, the balance of power is shifting now blah blah but lets be thankful the USA didnt fuck up its job for the past century. N. Korea (the government of N. Korea) is a greater threat to itself (their citizens or "subjects") than it is to the rest of the world. Why shouldn't N. Korea have nuclear weapons? They are as much entitled to nuclear weaponry as any other country that wants to be (or is already) in a position of power. Nationalism is fail. This whole "Us" vs "Them" is fail. Us being the governments of western nations and them being the so called "axis of evil" (governments); China, Iran, and N.K. It is interesting that one government can instill fear and (possibly) hatred of another government even when said other government has not harmed the individuals within their state (the initial government's area of control).
