Breakfast in bed with a vase full of red roses(her favorite flowers).
Then just some quality time with her for the rest of the day.
Speak the truth, even if your voice shakes.

I bought her hand milled soaps and got her a card. We went to a really nice state park and BBQ'd also, but that was for my husband's graduation. Oh well, we all got to hang out anyways.

Although I agree that mothers/fathers day is bullshit
I don't agree
It's just cool, not only to give but also doing something together!

1. My sister and I bought her a new car.

2. We gave her some red roses combined with some blue lillies.

3. We told her we loved her.

4. Then we gave her a big hug.

5. Then we drove back to my mother's house in her car where we finally had dinner.

You should be able to do fun/nice things with/for your parents on any day and you don't need mother's day for that.

It equally senseless and commercially driven as Valentine.
I refuse to something special on Valentine's day just because it's Valentine.

So why no uncle day? aunt day? niece day? nephew day? etc etc...

I think it's lame but part of the tradition so meh.

Because your mother and father are more significant. Its not like your extended family were the ones who took care since you were a child (with the exception of the ones that lost their parent(s))
