well depends on who you are, say you are an experience mma fighta, (personally speaking) i'll expect you to help, but if you are a nobody, yea, just call the cops, no point of getting beat up for nothing
reminds me of this news: this gas station dude say this guy was beating up his girlfriend, so he steped in to help the girl. well, teh gas station dude got annilated (read: suffered concussion). when the police came out to ask for witness statements, the girl didn't even come out. the police had to track her down to get the statement. when asked whether he regretted his decision, the gas dude said no, he'll definitely do it again.
you are a nobody, leave matters to professionals. not only you got PERMANENTLY DAMAGED, you didn't even get appreciated (read: laid).
