good luck with your new career. I also had thought about joining up..maybe for a bit..just to see how it goes..but probably later on. the best thing for me would be that you are still able to earn degrees with the army/navy paying for it; which makes it worthwhile. also you can get deployed/stationed in so many different places..great if you like traveling.

If he went to college with the intent of doing charity work afterwards then by all means but going into the military with his level of education is just as good if not a better decision to make. You get experience, you help your country, you see the world, you have lots of room for promotion. Coming out of that type of military positions eaves him open for alot of good jobs later on in life. It seems naive, and imo stupid to take all that time you spent in college and then go "do charity work in africa"...maybe its just me but thats not clicking in my head, it sounds nice which seems like all that was all the thought that was put into it, its sounds like a nice thing to do but has no real career or practical application especially when compared with the military option, one is clearly better than the other....

Very well said! The military will also help me when i decide to have a family or retire. Whats Africa going to do for me when that time comes around, tell me congrats in a series of clicks and other weird mouth noises?

LOL
i lolled ^^
Anyways, Navy > Army imo
so gl exality
About the africa shizz, most people that do good stuff there are either:
Doctors
People that alredy did most of the things they wanted and still have shitloads of money to spend and are looking to do something worthy
People that have money and just have that natural feeling to help people in need
It's not like you can do much, at the age of 17 for example, go there with no money to... erm, help.
U'd probly die faster than anyone there anyways if u did that lol

since when did buying food, cloths, homes ina 3rd world country cost us anything, a person on a paper round could prolly buy a house with what he gets paid in that country, all i said its a better way to spend your time rather then joining the army, charity and army are not the only things you can get life experiance from. But you made you decision im not saying its a wrong one either im just saying their are other possibly better options

Had respect for your future plans. Lost them immediatly, that's an insanely dick-ish comment. And illustrates all the things people have against the U.S. war machine.

I gotta agree with Priam here..
I understand your action, you're american after all (not saying something against American people, attention, it's just america has a very strong "humour" and a special way of "calling" things)

Who said you were allowed out of the closet without my permission? Do you want me to get my magic princess wand? You know what happens when I get my magic princess wand.

Much respect, exality. I had thought of joining the military myself, but I'll save the life threatening stuff for when I already have a family to carry on my name.

HA, my friend i feel you are rather uneducated on the topic. Make all the jokes you want, i do it to. But seriously, homosexuality is a disqualification from joining the military. Just because you can spend months on a ship with other men and women dosent mean ur going to **** guys. Seriously many people go months without getting pussy, who says you cant go months without getting laid and serve your country?
And now i understand what Priam was saying, its all fun and games till someone talks shit on you.

Re: Begining a new chapter.
id like to point out i only said their was better things to do i didnt say it was a retarded idea.
fact is america is gona fight wars that where never suppose to be started, you will be fighting for their honor and intergety, gl with that.
secondly i feel their are plenty of humanitarian projects that are going around that offer travel, experiance, training and an education without the worry of some fucker shooting you, though they prolly shot you for a good reason, your american, you invaded their country to rob their resources.
But in typing this i stopped to think your american, the country who has an obsession with guns and my proof will be this.

What are you trying to prove? If he wants to serve his country, let him do so. He is not the one that chose to go to that specific country in the first place.
And a interesting fact, not all troops go to Afghanistan or Iraq, so its not like they are always going to a war that is hungry for resources. Don't rain on his parade, treat others with respect.
