In my opinion, if it's for self defense, then go for it. I don't mind sharing this, but when I was younger (around 5th grade), I had a situation where a big girl (9th grade) and her girl friends was hitting me with a baseball bat and rocks. Yes, it did hurt (stitches and a black eye), and I'm not going to run away like a "bitch" and neither sit there like a "bitch."
