Don't act like there aren't assholes out there who just get right down to business without making sure the animal's totally dead.

Anyway, it doesn't excuse the fact that the whole thing is senseless in the first place.

Without a functioning brain the animal wouldn't feel anything. The heart beating doesn't matter.

You think it is senseless. The hunters see it as a means to an end. They can't just wait for the ice to melt. Winters in the Canadian North are long and cold. Without the money they get from the seal pelts they can't afford the amentities required to survive the winters.

If anyone would read the full article, there is info there about how much the seal trade is actually HURTING the Canadian economy. But keep arguing about fisherman needing that $16 pelt. I'm still not buying Canadian seafood until it's banned.

If the hunt is abrogated there won't be any cod left to buy from Canada. We already depleted the cod fisheries in Newfoundland.
