but i knew something bad happened....
and i honestly believed we would catch the bad guys (especially after GWB's speech)

i despise america

Xem, It was Al-Qaeda. Al-Qaeda was founded roughly after the Soviet Union withdrawled from Afghanistan back in 1989. Iraq did not cause 9/11, which is why I can see the negativity towards invading Iraq. HOWEVER...if people are not behind the war, at least support the troops. Never ever disrespect the soldiers of the U.S. Military. They do their jobs knowing the reprocussions in full, which makes them heroes, just like the people of the NYPD and NYFD who did their jobs on 9/11, knowing the circumstances. What I cant stand are people who chastise(sp) and belittle the soldiers of the U.S. Military, when they are just doing their jobs. Chastise the administration of the U.S., the people who tell the soldiers what to do.

With that being said, I will support Reise in full, because when he becomes a soldier of the U.S. Army, he is taking on a lifestyle that can yield potentially lethal reprocussions, to protect our country. Thats a hero in my book, along with the NYPD, NYFD, police officers, firefighters, and the soldiers of the U.S. Military in general.

It's amazing some of the comments I've read on this thread from people who have absolutely no idea what they're talking about. For those commenting about how the American soldiers feel over there and how they are pissed and don't want to be there... you couldn't be more wrong. When you're in the military, you know that there's a chance you will be going to war. Especially the people who signed up after 9/11/2001. They accepted this and wanted to fight for their country. THERE IS NO DIRECT LINK BETWEEN THE WAR IN IRAQ AND THE ATTACKS ON THE U.S. ON 9/11.

For those who keep talking about the innocent lives lost in Iraq because of the U.S. : Where's the love for the innocent lives lost in Iraq because of what Saddam was doing? You do realize that it was worse before he was captured, don't you?

I'm not here to make the United States seem like some amazingly perfect country. No country is perfect. No government is perfect. Every country is run by humans and no human is perfect. There will always be problems with any government. Stop talking down to the Americans on this board like you're country is SO much better. We're ALL EQUAL. Love your country. Support your country. If there's something you don't like about your country/government, try to help change it.

The attacks on September 11th, 2001 were horrifying. I lost an uncle and an aunt in the Alfred P. Murrah building bombing in Oklahoma City in 1995 and our family was in on the search and rescue. The sights I saw that day will never leave me.

The reason people say never forget is so that we can do our best to prevent something like this from happening again in the future. Knowledge is power.

Shame on you @ssholes who came in here and turned this into a political debate. This was meant as a memorial post and you had to f*cking ruin it. Good job. American citizens take pride in their country, just like most people from other countries. Don't disrespect the CITIZENS for mistakes the GOVERNMENT makes. Get a life.

While i disagree with colbs opinions, i can see where he's coming from. But 9/11 wouldn't be such a politically charged date if the government didn't use it as propaganda and as a tool to support the war in Iraq even though as colb said they have no direct correlation.

While there are soldiers who sign up the the military for their country most go in for other reasons. I have a couple friends who went in to help pay for college. Another because he had nothing left to do and the US army likes to make frequent visits to my old HS because of the demographics.

No it wasn't worse before we got to Iraq. While things were bad now they're terrible. If you ask the average person who lives their right now they can't see the difference of a trade of one military power which was destroying its civilians to another military power which is destroying its citizens on a much larger scale....saddam didn't bomb his own country remember.

I'll agree every country is isbn't perfect but not ever country sets itself as the poster boy for the "Leaders of the Free World". The US is a major country the most powerful in the world right now so we have an example to set and we're not doing a very good job of it by telling the UN to go f*ck itself cause we can do whatever we want.

Sept 11th was horrible for americans who aren't used to dealing with death and mass destruction on a daily basis. But the rest of the world is, i think making such a big deal out of 9/11 in not only our country but also in other countries cheapens the lives of ppl who die from bombings or explosions everyday. If you want to mourn for ppl do it everyday not just once a year when you feel its a good time to rally ppl for support. Its a political agenda and forgive me if it has jaded my view on the entire event.

Even when ppl remember history still repeats itself. Remember the first time a plane crashed into the towers, remember the Vietnam war, remember the gulf war, remember helping the Taliban, remember helping Cuba, Remember helping Russia...remember remember the 5th of November. You can remember all the stuff you want but it'll keep happening again and again as long as ppl don't do anything to change it and aside from the last thing i mentioned we're noticeably making the same mistakes over and over and over and over again.

Governments once feared their ppl. The ppl have allowed the government to take their powers away from them so we are just as much responsible for the events of 9/11 as the gov't because if the ppl actually stood up for once we could've made alot of changes to prevent this kind of thing from happening because its not like no one saw it coming. The signs were everywhere and we just decided we'd rather ignore it.
