Guitar Hero is basically DDR with a guitar. I'm actually sincerely giving GH players advice to put down the plastic guitar and take up a real one. I play the guitar too, and nothing beats being able to play your own melodies and songs opposed to mashing a few buttons to create them. Being able to play an instrument is a privilege. You could boast about your insane guitar hero 3 skills now, and see them become insignificant as the years trail away. I highly doubt any of you will be playing this when you're 30 years old. But will/can you be playing a real guitar when you're 30?

@Waisha: so sue me. The Captain owns this place-fortunately I have enough brains to know that. And second, you've been following me around like a cat on a mouse making little smart-ass comments. You should consider stopping it-its quite juvenile.

I know people making 80 grand a year playing GH at bars. That's right, getting payed to play a video game at a bar.

I doubt GH will be going away anytime soon.

Sorry for not replying, as I was at a Jazz Fest during the weekend. (OMG I play an instrument! A real one too!)

Anyway, thanks for all the support guys. exality, dont know what you mean by prepping it, but I just spraypainted it right away. After putting the logo on I covered it with a clear coat. I still need to find time to go get some yellow spray paint.

Heres an outline of what I'm aiming for.

Pilot-Seriously, if you hate GH so much why can't you just leave the thread? I dont see how GH is worthless considering someone won a brand new 08 Pontiac for winning a tournament. And don't say "Well not everyone will get that." Thats bullshit. Everyone damn well knows that only a handful of REAL guitarists ever get successful. The whole point is to have fun. I can guarantee you I'm doing that. Oh BTW, played Rock Band for 2 hours last night. It was great.

/GTFO moron.

Well by prepping i mean sanding it removing all the greases and dirt, spraying a base coat. Im not sure since u didnt prep it if the paint will rub off or not. How many layers of paint and clear coat did you do?

IIDX is basically DDR with a 7-key piano and a turntable...
But how much fun is it to play a piano compared to this?
Code: Select all

I see no problem with these games. People say that they are stealing away talent, but they don't stop musicians from getting into music. Playing an actual instrument requires more than just rhythm and reading notes (besides drums). These games lack the opportunity to compose music, and that is precisely why musicians will always have a need to play real instruments.

I definitely did not think about that...*sigh*
I guess I just didn't want to mess with the guts very much seeing as I probably wouldnt be able to put it back together lol.

once again... i am 31, and i play gh3, as well as many other games for wii, 360, and ps3. i don't find my video game skills insignificant at all(even though my wife does). i still use the old schol contra code on my 8 bit nintendo(up down up down left right left right b a select start) for the 32 lives. i still play my genesis, super nintendo, and colecovision. i will be playing video games 20 years from now and i will still show off that i can play gh3 on expert level to my kids!
also, playing an instrument is not a privilege, it is a skill and an artform. noone said only i could play an instrument and my friends couldn't. i just dug music alot more than they did. i bought my first bass at a pawn shop because my parents couldn't afford to buy me one or spend money on lessons. i taught myself listening to pink floyd and rush records. i didn't get a real music lesson until i was in high school (where you are now...i think), so don't be so quick to judge.

on a lighter note...thank you for the correct spelling and grammer, it does make your 8000 posts easier to read!!!!

Paint dried great. I just got to get around to removing the parts and going over it again. I am really pressed for time right now (trying out for State Honors band) so I cant go get paint or find time to even get some painting done.

Thanks for the clarification Luoma. We all know Pilot is just jealous anyway.
