I lol when people say that gay marriage has to be illegal because the bible says so; yet they eat pork, eat meat on fridays, cut the hair infront of their ears, hardly attend church, disrespect their neighbors and parents, fail to give back to the community, and use God's name in vain.

However, with that said, religion was first and foremost a religious union between a man and a woman. I feel it should remain that way and gays should not be allowed to get married; there needs to be new terminology for the word marriage in a civil and logistical sense. Two gays should have the right to go to their city hall and live in union and be accorded a title. They should have all the same rights religiously married people have: wills, taxes, insurance, etc.

For an analogy: Having two gays get religiously married is like having a white guy receive cash from the United Negro College Fund.

the bonding of two people most likely wasn't a religious event until organized religions appeared....and science has proven humans started pairing off very early on. I think marriage has become a religious term over time. My point being marriage came before religion so calling it a religious union is imo a perversion of its original meaning...

I think gay marriage should be legal, but the reason gay marriage is not has very little to do with the bible.

Google Same Sex Marriage and England. They had a huge legal battle over there last year when too elderly sisters decided they wanted to get "Married" to get out of the death tax that would eat up the majority of there money. If they were married they would not get hit with the death tax.

This is the real issue, being masked by bible thumping officials. The government gives married couples a break on taxes. So if they let gay couples in, it is a cut in revenue and it opens the door for everyone to "couple up" and get the tax break. Where do you draw the line?

What I think they should do is this -Make Marriage (at the government lvl) similar to a legal partnership, let it be up to the couple if they want a church to sanctify it as well. Anyone two ppl could join together. Get rid of the tax break for married couples.

Agree with dom. People cut corners on the Bible's instructions all the time---why is it that suddenly the Bible is law when it comes to gay marriage?
And sure, perhaps the current definition and the root of marriage have to do with religion, but you can't just say, "Oh, well, the definition of marriage is that it's between a man and a woman, so gay people can't live together." That's bullshit. Just make the word that means, "Union between two persons of the same sex" garriage or something, and let them be "Garried happily ever after."

i dont follow any religion..so marige isnt rlly important to me but. I think they shouldnt be allowed to marry.
I mean we cant blame em from beeing gay, fine. But one thing we have to agree is tht it goes against the nature laws, and it isnt normal. Therefore we should understand it and maybe accept it, but without putting them aside or something, we shouldnt make it normal.
Beeing gay is like putting an end to Human beeings.
I accept gays, but in terms of stuff like that, we have to keep in mind that if We should treat gays like "normal" ppl in every way, we would be able to have babies with ppl from the same sex.
