@XemnasXD: You are probably the first person i heard who says NGE is the worst anime ever. Its.. well.. interesting, lets say.

The robots, fights or other action scenes.. There are not important. They are only background; nothing less, nothing more. Actually i dont consider NGE an action based anime.

Anyway, its a matter of taste really. Its true sometimes they are just silly, especially that combat oriented ones with funny attack names etc.

i just don't like pretentious pieces of crap...i liked the whole thing up until the last 2 episodes where they decided to d*ck the audience over. And i don't see how you can't consider it an action oriented anime seeing as more than 70% of the first 24 episodes was giants mech battles. If you have that much going on and your saying that it wasn't important than wtf were watching. Anyone who wasn't pissed of at the last 2 episodes and says "i understood it" is just being as pretentious as the show. If i want mech battles i'll watch Gundam, if i want compelling characters i'll watch Paranoia Agent, if i want religious undertones i'll watch Ergo Proxy, if i want to watch a jumbled mix of all of them that doesn't do anything but make you hate almost every single character by the time your done watching it i'll watch NGE

I dont consider it action oriented because it's more about the characters and their thoughts & way of thinking etc. And about the last 2 episodes, i partially agree with you. I agree that the last 2 episodes were a bit "slow" generally compared to the whole series, and can be boring (again, a matter of taste). What i dont agree, both about the last 2 episodes and the rest of your post, is sentences like this:

"Anyone who wasn't pissed of at the last 2 episodes and says "i understood it" is just being as pretentious as the show."

These are just your opinions, you do not need to force people to agree with you. I was like watching a arcade fighting game character doing 345345 combos and pwn his opponent.

And Ergo Proxy is a good anime, yes.

And i'm sure you agree with me if i said NGE is one of the most famous (in a good or bad way) anime series, and should be watched if you are really into anime. Just like Akira.
