I suggest listing what you expect from the camera, then go to the store, get some help from the photography department dude. He knows alot about the models and you can see which ones fit your wishes best.

I personally love Olympus and Fujifilm myself, especially the Fujifilm. One of my camera's is a Fujifilm, and I really love it, I never go anywhere without it. I keep the Olympus for professional work.

Hope you get some really awesome stuff, if it were my bday I would ask for a new car.. (my A/C broke and its getting pretty hot here!!) But on the practical side a new camera sounds lovely

i am not a picture-taker, but one of my really good friends from grad school is. she ias one of the ixus ones that cin posted above and it may as well be surgically grafted onto her hand because she never puts the thing down lol.

2 of my friends both have one of the Sony Cybershot digi camera series, they make very good pictures and the video function is high res with sound, no recording limit untill your card is full, it records them as avi file and theire not expensive.

I myself have a digi videocam with photo option, the movies are great but it lacks the ability to take good-looking pictures, they have some funny colour twist.

Id say go digi photo camera with video function

The list is in random order, and its based on Megapixels, Price, Features and Style (look)

Out of those, best recomended?
