hmm...its a solid choice..but why not an 8800? (Price?)
Imean sure you got it for the sound, but Gcards aren't that noisy...and you can always install liquid cooling system for complete silence

I would get a graphics card that will support Direct X 10. It will be expensive though.
Peace.

The 320mb version of the 8800 should be about the same price and might top the 1950 in performance. I would look into that if its an option. Gimmie a min and i will see if i can find a few benchies.

EDIT: Well, looking around a bit, if your gaming at a res lower than 1600x1200 then the performance between the 1950 and 8800 320MB version is very close. The 'bonus' you get with the 8800 is the directx 10 compatibility where the 1950 does not. If you can afford to get something to tide you over till summer, the new ATi R600 should make its debut and hopefully drive the prices of the full out 8800's down (the 640mb or 768mb versions), or the prices of the x19XX series.

Oh yea, about the x850. Looking at NCIX (one of the better priced canadian sites ive found) you will pay almost the same for the x850 as a 1950 pro. If it ends up just being between these 2, get the 1950.
