Yeah. I'd recommend something like a 1:7 hybrid. Little bit tanky, yet still can deal pretty good damage.

Why pay more for Z87 board when you could be fine with cheaper H87 or even B85. You can also take cheaper mATX form of the motherboard unless you need lots of pci-e slots for some reason.

Also it doesn't mean that your ram is incompatible if the specs are higher than what the motherboard supports... They will work but the frequency will be dropped to the max supported value.

I wouldn't use intel prosessor with a stock cooler, it's horrible. Neither would I get a 20 buck case.

I don't know how you calculated that you need a 630W PSU. 450W is more than enough for almost any single GPU pc. You could have picked a quality 400-450W gold instead of 630W bronze.

And almost forgot to add. YOU GOT IVY PROSESSOR BUT THE MOTHERBOARD IS HASWELL. Change the prosessor to i5 4570 or i5 4430 if you want one with a similar price.

Spiritual I went over the build last night and it all fits now, regarding psu I got it simply because it was on sell and around 500 is min due to decay ( 450 will work initially ). I don't have plans to oc at all also which is why the z77 board I selected is questionable but I rather pay a tad more for a higher quality part just to push for quality.

Well, when you are using a much bigger PSU than needed, the effiency isn't too good.

I wouldn't go for AsRock if I wanted quality. They have the shortest warranty period of all the manufacturers (tho, I dunno about biostar and such because we don't have them here). That should tell you something. They also lie a lot about their mobo's power phases ...more than the others. Only good thing I can say about them is that they have quality audio codec.

PSU was 25 after mir so is kinda hard to argue with that.

Regarding Asrock People appear to think they are doing good work lately and the quality parts are there. They boot faster too which I don't mind and the msi alternative in term of reviews wasn't better. I think I spent 2 hours or so staring at the 2 motherboards yesterday trying to decide between 2 very similar products.

Case is fine I guess and I'd definately get MSI over AsRock.

MSI probably has some bad reviews because it doesn't support overclocking as good as people expect and the customer support isn't the best. While those two are true, I wouldn't take the reviews too seriously when they can be made by anyone. Average customers tend to rate something bad because they didn't get it to work on the first try. Like that's the manufacturers fault lol.

Regreating my asrock decision now, I just placed my order so I'll see what I can do to change it.

It isn't that big of a deal but it does have 2 years of warranty while msi has 3. There's always the chance that yours breaks between 2-3 yrs and then you will regret it for real.

You're still missing a prosessor cooler. Intel stock fan is total garbage, loud and ineffective. I recommend getting something like Thermalright 120 M BW. It's effective, you won't hear it at lower rpms, it has good build quality and only costs 20something bucks.

The Asrock board has a 3 year warranty also. I'll just try to contact newegg while I watch a movie and if that doesn't workout is not that big of a deal anymore.

Well, that's how it's here in Europe. IMO asrock seems to focus on having more "cool" features and a cooler look, you have to sacrifice something in order to achieve something that the competing manufacturer doesn't have. I'd like to know what they have done... For example in your mobo's specs it says: "Digi Power Design, 8 + 3 Power Phase Design" but even the more expensive extreme4 only has 4+1 true phase count and it's analog, which is worse. So basically it's an overclocking mobo that can't support high overclocks, pretty cheap trick. Only 8 out of 28 mobos on the list live up to their specs.

Not saying that ASUS or MSI doesn't do that at all with their mobos but gigbyte is pretty honest with theirs, especially with the gaming/overclocking ones.

gibyte has a bad rap these days, they had to patch some of their boards to not allow oc due to some of them being set on fire. I am inclined to especulate also on msi not cutting as many corners as Asrock but then again they are both described as "cheap" by people and lately both have been improving quality.

If this board goes bad in a year or two I won't mind replacing it just hoping that nothing else goes with it which I have seen no reports on. The msi boards seem to have some protection against this but yeah bit late now.

Also the Asrock board looks like total crap so hopefully that means moneyz went to quality.

Hmm, which gigabyte mobo was that? And how can stuff improve these days, all they do is move more production into china. xD

Kingston moved some of the SSD production to china and magically the new v300's have half of the speed of the specs. Corsair put out their new CX PSU line out and people are recommending them all over the place (cuz it's _corsair_, it has to be a quality product!). They never realized that the fair price came from cutting down the cost of components by getting them from china.

Ah, they were the enthusiastic level X79 boards. First ones had flawed bios settings which lead to overheating. Anyways, after dl'ing and flashing the correct bios they worked normally so the "blocking oc" part was just some bogus... You think they would offer 5 years of warranty in USA for those mobos if their quality was declining?

You can easily purchase 2 more years of warranty with what they charge though but yeah they seem to do OK on the higher tiers.
