Re: Credit cards

I don't actually know what my limit is, really. I've never looked into it as it's not been an issue so far (lucky me). I should probably ask my bank, though :)

My limit is like $1200 and I make purchases of ~$200 on average and pay it off quick so my credit score is pretty good. Now I'm paying off a new car that I put the card on and I pay that off monthly.

sucks when you find out this world is run on credit :(
my bank told me the only way i could get credit is by getting a secured credit card... and the limit of it is however much i give them to start... this credit card is used for the next year as if it was a normal credit card, then after the year i get a normal credit card and my secured deposit money back. It sucks that i have to put money down but i have to do this :(

BUMP!! Fun story guise!!

So I woke up this morning to a text from my bank account, I have it setup to alert me when my balance changes by $100 or more in a short period of time. So I get a text at 9am, showing my balance has dropped $1800... Rushed to check my wallet, still have the card (debit)...

So by the time I got the card reported and cancelled the thieves had stolen $2100. Awww yeaaa! Happy Monday to me! Most of the charges are at gas stations in other states... I have no idea how they got my number and/or how they are buying stuff/gas at petro stations without my card.

I'll get the money back, but it will take up to 90 days.

Interesting story for you card carrying bros. It wasn't a credit card, but still.

The only recent purchases I made with it were gas, dinner at a restaurant, and an order with amazon.com.

Did you use it at an ATM recently? A rigged ATM machine or any withdrawal machine could have been a likely cause :P

In October or November I lost my xbox account - they charged the card on file for a region change, 1 year subscription, and 18,000-20,000 points (don't remember exactly).

I saw the receipts at work and called Visa on my break. They cancelled the card, sent me a new one, and reversed the charges within 15 minutes. All I had to do was sign a letter they mailed me stating that I did not authorize the charges.

This is why I use credit cards more than debit; when you lose your debit the police/bank can freeze all your monies and if they don't find the thief, it's possible you don't get the money back.

In your case it's possible they said 90 days because that's how long it could take for the balance to appear on your statement; but in actuality, the money was already reversed and is pending transfer. When I worked for Air France, if we reversed the fuel surcharge/taxes on a credit card or purchased miles, the standard time given to customers was 90 days for the money to appear on the account.

Interesting. I guess I'll just have to wait and see. Pretty unwelcome text to receive this morning. :soosad:

Something similar happened to me, but my bank phoned me to say there was some strange activity on my account and had I made the purchases. Which I hadn't, so they cancelled the transactions and cancelled my card and sent me out a new one, without me loosing any money. :D
