Tablet?
First off, FML. Lost my precious iPod Touch 4G at my friend's house :/
lol weird, I hope I can find it... in all that mess lol
Well, just wondering if there is something I can replace my iPod with something more interesting.
I think it'll be stupid to get another iPod, even for the cheapest one.
Any other suggestions?
I was thinking.. why not a Tablet? Does anyone has one here?
Okay, I don't want it for games. Just like iPod, I want to mess around with, with the WiFi stuff (and why not 4G if theres one, but that possibility is kind of far for me since my dad doesn't want me to get a Data Plan :/)
I know a tablet might be like 8 times bigger than a Tablet, thats why I have my phone. But I only used my iPod for music, I can live with that. Maybe I can get a cheap mp3 or something.
Think I should get one? Or save my money? I have a laptop, yeah, but it would be nice to have a touch screenie for college and some others wi-fi places without carrying the 'whole package'.
like THIS one?
I realized this morning, I used to use the iPod so freaking much at home to check the bus, check MSN (without getting up to get on in the laptop), check the time, listen to music... so many stuff.
I even bought a fancy Skull Candy Headphones to enjoy my music, and iPod decided to disappear without leaving a trace lol
As always, I hope SRF can help me out on this one, even thought I might know the replies lol

Re: Tablet?
A friend of mine broke their ipod and got an ipad as a replacement. She regrets it, a lot. It's too big to run with, you need a bag to carry it on the train, it's an awkward size in the car, the lack of flash makes using it as a web browser insanely annoying, it's not compatible with straight USB connections etc etc.
I'd strongly recommend that you just buy a new MP3 player. An ipad may seem flash and handy, but from my small amount of time using one and countless stories I've heard from people I know with them, they are just an awkward sized computer with less functionality.

I would just get another iPod or equivalent.. tablets are fun to mess around with, but in the end, I dont think you'll use it much, but this depends on different people. My brother has one and he hardly uses it, because he already has a laptop and iPhone to use even at home.
Maybe save up for a smartphone?
I use my iPhone alot, and before I got it I used my iPod touch alot but now its just sitting at my desk. Point being, the phone would replace the ipod + reduce your bulk of carrying things around because its a 2 in one.
otherwise, save your money

Re: Tablet?
Is the battery life on the iPhone any good, though? I haven't really used an iPhone too much, so I'm not too sure, but my phone contract runs out in the next 4 months or so and I'm looking for a replacement phone. If your using your iPhone as a music player, do you still get decent battery life?

Re: Tablet?
I listen to audiobooks 8 hours a day on my iphone, in addition to using it for web browsing, texting, and calling at night; I have about 2 days worth at that usage from a full battery.
I love my tablet, it's not not something for everyone. It's too big to carry around like a phone and it's not powerful enough to use like a laptop. I use mine when I go to the bathroom, on long drives, when i'm showing people stuff, and when i'm just checking e-mail/forums.
It took a while to finally start using it. When I got it I always defaulted to my laptop for everything by habit, finding the ipad to be not that useful. But, once I got into the groove of picking up my iPad for things, I started loving it.

Re: Tablet?
Here, I bought an iPad 2 on september 10th (not worth mentioning in a new thread, I would have been hulk smashed) anyways, since I use it for gaming, and work at school, I bought a rigid logitech cover for it with a bluetooth keyboard. Works marvelous, web browsing is a little inconvenient BUT its not as bad as people may think.
My dad bought the asus Eee pad, he says its wonderful, up to 24hours of battery life while on the dock, and 10 hours no dock. some apps are a bit meh, full features and capability of the machine hasn't been met yet. Finds the 2 USB entry ports useful and the SD card too.

Re: Tablet?
I'm going to buy the next EEE pad transformer when it comes out (scheduled for october/november of this year). With the keyboard dock the battery life goes from 7 to 14 hours.
Once I realized my total textbook cost for the year was $2100 and a tablet is only $500~ and I can "download" all my textbooks..
Well the choice was obvious oO Besides, if you are worried about processing power, read up on the tegra 3 that will be shipping with the EEE pad transformer 2. Should clear your doubts..

very good, I dont use mine for texting(long story) but I do use ~2 hours a day just for music and it consumes very little battery. Along with watching youtube videos+wifi daily, it can last me 3-4 days( I charge at 20% ), and thats the usual. If your going to be texting/ using data, it'll probably shorten the battery life depending on usage.

Hopefully. If it's pushed back 6 months I won't hesitate to buy the original version.

Re: Tablet?
Oh, wait a second, if it's gonna be more than $400, might not able to get it. Not willing to spend more than that. :/
So probably I am sticking with this Eee Pad.
Also, I hope this is not like a computer/laptop. I want something like an iPad, a Tablet.
I just get confused when they say Tablet PC. lol
Edit: Made a strong research about the Asus EEE Pad Transformer after I finished this post, and I have to say I am sold to it. So probably if the v2 cost more than 400$ I ain't getting it so... EEE pad Transformer here I go!

You can view your desktop and control it remotely with an App, and play games like Portal 2 and Crysis with no lag at all. No cables, everywhere.

Re: Tablet?
Update: I just had the Asus EEE Pad Transformer yesterday, and returned it with full refund today at Best Buy. I didn't feel it like using it at all. 10-inches are perfect for browsing and viewing stuff. But due to the relative big size I didn't feel like I could take it to everywhere I go. If I ever use it on school, c'mon... I use my old fashioned notetakers and interact with classmates more often, so I didn't feel a good use for it other than home... which is lame cause I already have a laptop.
Forgot the good parts:
The screen, which is IPS is incredible brilliant and clear. Even from sides views, it's amazing.
Lightweight, it's pretty big but not as heavy as you might think.
Pretty decent fast response.
Price, price. One of the best affordable tablets out.
I am aiming now for a 7-inch tablet. I heard the BlackBerry Playbook is nice, but it's discontinued now. The HTC Flyer looks nice, but not totally sure if it's a bigger version of the phone or a real tablet. Once again, undecided.
Good point is... I got to try the Asus Eee pad Transformer and got all my money back. keke.

Yeah, I agree. Whenever I use Wi-Fi applications (MSN) I run out of battery after 2 hour-ish of continous usage.
