i dont "not believe" in something im unaware of, by default i can't. belief is ones ability to hold an opinion. atheism is the "disbelief in the existence of deity b : the doctrine that there is no deity." one cannot therefore disbelieve in something they havent heard of. i dont hold an opinion about something of which i dont know.

No, You can not believe in something, but not know for certain it does not exist. I don't believe in god, but I will not say with 100% certainty that god does not exist. That would make me a gnostic atheist, which I'm not. Instead, I'm an agnostic atheist, I lack belief, but don't know for certain if a god or gods exist.

I assume your aids comment was directed at our god discussion? First, look up what AIDs is and what causes it. Second, no one here is arguing about the existence of God, simply the definition of a word. Third, if that truly is your counter argument for the existence of God, I am sorry. Unicorns made of jelly beans exist, you can not see them, prove they don't exist. You can either prove they don't exist or just don't believe in them, you decide, which seems logical. Do not reply to that hypothetical please.
