logitech headset..
logitech headset..
Ok so ive got a logitech headset and recently ive discovered the left side of the headset stops working while the right side still plays sound. Now its gotten to the point where the left side doesnt work at all, and if I play around with the wire connecting the headset to the computer enough and I hold it at random positions it works.
Now does anyone know if there is an easy way to fix this or am I screwed. I actaully like this headset as its pretty good quality. I dont wanna spend good money on another headphone too.

Re: logitech headset..
You can rewire the ending of it which isn't hard. My headphones stopped working and I did this, works brand new. You can buy the piece that plugs into the computer for like $3. You will need a soldering iron though. Soldering the wire back to the piece it disconnected from shouldn't be hard either.
Total project time: 15-20 minutes.

I went to 'The source' aka circutcity. Store will really depend on location..bestbuy/futureshop might have them. Any tech related store probably.
Re: logitech headset..
wait can i take off a wire from another headphone that has mesed up speakers and sodder it onto this one instead of buying the piece that plugs into the computer?
Also the headset seems hard to take apart. Dont see any way to open it up without breaking part of it.

Re: logitech headset..
From your first post I thought you meant when you touch the part right where it connects to your computer the sound sometimes works. This is usually the case with most people because of the constant bending. Not the part where the wire connects to the headphones, but where it connects to the computer. I chopped the wire about 1 inch and stuck on a new connector and it worked.
Using a different wire entirely seems harder. Taking the wire off of the headphones..might not be possible ><

Oh..yea I was talking about the part actaully connecting to the headphones. When I move that around it starts working but the second I let go or move it again it stops working. But is the case still that the wire is bad? cuz I can try and find a way to open the headset and actaully replace the entire wire if thats whats bad.
Re: logitech headset..
If moving the wire changes how bad the corruption is...then yes, it's most likely the wire connection.

Re: logitech headset..
You fail for cheaping out on a headset. Always expect the ones for under $25 to last for a year or less.

Re: logitech headset..
Ive had the headset for like 2 and a half years... Didn't cheap out on it. These are the best quality ones ive ever used and now I dont feel like throwing away money at headphones again...so if i dont get these working then i gotta go with the cheap ones.

Re: logitech headset..
if the problem is at the jack. you can go to a place like radio shack (the shack) or fry's electronics and get a new jack. you cut the cord and it may take some testing to figure out wich cord is which. if its at the headphones than that may be a bitch to fix and you should just go get a new set.

^^Thanks Thomas42

Re: logitech headset..
Every $10~$25 headset I've bought the sound would stop working within a few months. So instead of buying a new headset I just put earbuds in and solved. I've had the same headset for a year now.
