Job Interview
I applied at my local grocery store the other day, and I got a call back for an interview. It's tomorrow and I'm kind of nervous, I don't know what to do. Anyone have any pointers on what or what not to do?

Re: Job Interview
I applied for my grocery store last year, and I had an interview and all that jazz.
It's a lot easier than you would think.
What to do: Speak clear, say all of your best qualities, be honest
What not to do: Be nervous (and show it, to a large extent), say something really stupid.
Not a lot of things can go wrong.
Chill

Re: Job Interview
Google some of the most common job interview questions. Since it's a grocery/retail, they'll most likely ask a question about stealing. (If you saw a coworker steal, what would you do?)
Most importantly, BE HONEST.

Re: Job Interview
1. Don't Be scared, you gotta show them that you're confident and the right person for the job.
2.Be on time.
3.Smile, be somewhat assertive and confident but not arrogant.
4.Do a bit of role play and ask a family member and ask them to pretend to interview you and ask you suitable questions.
And finally do a bit of research using the internet or something to show you know there products and what they stand for(That's If the store has one).
I've been to quite a few Job interviews and these are the things I do to prepare before hand.

Re: Job Interview
Look them in the eyes. I know someone who got a job because he was the only applicant who looked the interviewer in the eyes when they shook hands and maintained good eye contact throughout the rest of the interview.

Re: Job Interview
As some people said before.
Be honest, be clear, if you do not understand something- say so, and ask, dont awnser crap because you 'have to atleast awnser something'.
If they ask for your qualities and bad points, be sure to have some qualities thought off allreaddy, and treat 'bad points' as 'points for improvement'.
And keep your hands on table etc ;P do what your mom tought you
Then again, there's a good chance it wont be so formal at all ^^
im sure you'll do fine

Re: Job Interview
It's a grocery store, dude. Don't sweat it. It's not going to be more intense than them asking if you do sports or other stuff to determine when you're available.
If you don't get the job, too bad. There's a million stores that all need people to sit behind cash registers and to fill shelves.
Just do what you normally do and you'll be fine.

Wait a minute, they have actual interviews for grocery stores? I thought it was just a formality to check you don't look like a drug addict.

Re: Job Interview
Good introduction, strong hand shake and voice.
Listen to everything he has to say, let him know you're listening by nodding every once in a while or saying "mmm hmmm"
Always give eye contact! (remember the triangle)
Speak clear and do not say "am"
Another strong hand shake when leaving and say "Thank-You and Good-bye Mr/Mrs...."

Re: Job Interview
I have just got to home from an interview. The most common questions may be: where have you been working?; why did you leave?; did you have troubles with your colleauges?; if yes, how did you fix them?; can you work as a member of a team?; why did you choose our Shop?; what are your plans for future?; etc.
Be self-confident. That is a plus.

Re: Job Interview
I recently had an interview at the Air Force base near me last week. Luckily my mother's been taking Business classes and one of her text books has a whole chapter on how to do well at an interview.
If you have Powerpoint on your computer(I don't because this is a fresh install of Windows 7) then go ahead and Google:
Mary Ellen Guffey's Essentials of Business Communication. Chapter 14.
That chapter helped me a ton and I got a call back just the other day. I start next tuesday.

Re: Job Interview
Be honest? That's ok for an entry level position. Really though, grocery store? Should be pretty easy. If you decide to move up though, and they have interviews for that, don't be honest, answer in what would be best for the company.

Or saving up and spending it on something that might actualy be usefull.
You know, education, a car after a while perhaps and such.
