Idk why they had to show it on television. Incredibly disrespectful for him and his family..among other people. The fact that they replayed it >9000 times is just disgusting imo. It's not the first time I've seen this kind of thing but wow play it on national tv over and over? Wtf is wrong with these people..

@brago
internal bleeding = bleeding
he was also most likely bleeding from ears/eyes/nose but who knows. When your heart stops blood doesn't keep flowing out of you like in the movies.

Wow I'm shocked but I guess with a sport like that and traveling at those speeds the participants no of the risk...I don't think anyone is at fault.

It's a shame how it all happened R.I.P anyhow.

Perhaps they could benefit from a plexi-glass dome top..so if they crash they don't fly out.. instead they just slide the rest of the way out like a long slide.

Read something about this being one of the fastest tracks a lot of the guys there have ever ridden on, sounds like a recipe for accidents.

But they would just flip in a small space breaking stuff since 89+ mph in small space with not enough space for body to flip around = breaking bones. And if they go upside down gravity slams them on the ground.

I think it would be better to go sliding down a slick/icy tube at 90mph then into a pole at 90mph.

yea but 90miles in hour in even a large tube would = u flipping and breaking bones and bleeding internally overtime, where as dead on a pole you wouldnt feel the pain.

Well, most of the time they don't fly out anyway. They do indeed slide around like I said.. a wreck is bad period, I think keeping them from flying out of the track is a better choice.

Brago wrote:Idk, it didnt look that bad, like other crashes.

To me it just looked like a guy slid off his thing and hit a pole no blood everywhere, no debri anywhere, no crashing fyi. Looks fake imo.

Internal wounds.

I wonder why those pillars were there in the first place and why they werent stuffed with protective soft material.

i don't think padding would have helped him to be honest he was really flying. they are probably there to support the roof or something else but if they aren't load bearing i don't see why they would be there.

Well obviously you have some issues....

Hundreds of people die every day I don't see why I have issues if I happen to find one of them amusing.

YOUR SO BADASS

anyways, the designers screwed up, and for canada to say that its the guy's fault is nonsense and they should be ashamed of themselves for letting something like this happen BEFORE they make the necessary changes. The georgian was basically a guinea pig for them idiots.

Ok...i don't see how someone dying is amusing at all. Think about all his friends and family and how devastated they would be and tell me if you still think its funny..

I can acknowledge, that death is a horrible and sad thing, but if the fashion in which the person dies tickles my funny bone I'm not gonna lie about it.

They have had this track since 2007 and it was designed with the governing body of luge. It has been raced on several times and just because someone went into a turn too high does not mean the track is at fault.

Well the top speed on this one is 90 mph and they say that its usually only 80 mph. And the fact that the olympic people changed the starting line and changed the course to make it safer speaks for itself. They shouldn't have designed it so that people go at insane speeds.

The fastest speed clocked on the course was ~150km/h. That fellow made it through the entire course.

I heard on the news with this reporter saying that one of the turns on this particular track is called like 50/50 because that is the chance you will get through the turn I was like
