building a custom computer and needing some help

Ok, right out of the box the i3-530 is 3ghz. However, with the gpu I recommended, overclocking can only help.. it's not uselessness. It's up to him, I know what I would buy. (wish I had $650 for a new build right now )

though the i3 and 620 are neck and neck the 620 is running at 2.6ghz vs i3's 3ghz plus with games going more and more into the multi threaded range i think the 620 would be more future proof because hyper threading just cant cut it for replacing a physical core.

hey deadsolid why don't you learn how to spell before you come on here telling ppl what to do, i'm simply asking for friends advice on what to get for my build that is under my budget, if i wanted a powerful computer i would have googled it and bought it but sadly i do not have 5 grand as my budget if i did i wouldn't be here asking about what to use for a build for under 6 or 7 hundred dollars, and if you don't like it then don't post i don't need sarcasm remarks, flaming or anything that does not have to do with the topic of this post and that will not help me in building my custom pc

btw thank you to all those that have offered great advice and links to parts, i appreciate all the help you all are giving me in solving this

evga and amarisa i don't mean to get you two to argue but i am looking for two main things, 1 everything to be under budget and 2 try to get the fastest cpu speed available while staying under budget, thank you both for helping me out

like i said this is MY first custom build for myself, and unlike the ppl i do help with custom builds they usually have a higher budget then what i have, and i am wanting my first custom build to be as perfect as possible

for your information i did check out your link and its not what i am wanting, as for my grammar, it is absolutely fine, but i do thank you for showing me that list, i may just base my build off of it, since it'll be cheaper then that since i have the os already, just don't go around telling ppl to google things first before going and asking for help on some forums, i asked here cause i'm wanting to see what everyones advice on it which you cannot google and i would trust the friends on here more then what i would find googling it

I don't know why you keep choosing the shittiest GPUs you can find. Didn't you say somewhere this was for gaming? 9400 / 220 doesn't cut it...

not hardcore evga i am just wanting a gpu that can play the games i am wanting and future games i will be getting and the ones i pick are the recommended and supported gpus for the games, and 220 gt is probably the best i will find within my price range

hmm..the build I posted was under $650 and had a 5770.. 20x better than 9400. The build deadsolid posted has a 5770 also.

Buying the lowest end gpu you can find AND using the word "future" games at the same time is ridiculous. Just trying to help.

You can easily fit a nice GPU into that budget, you're not listening.

those type of gpus are 150 and up which i cannot afford right now, i am planning on updating the gpu later on, i am wanting a good enough gpu for right now 100 and under at least and this probably won't be my only custom rig i will be making

just because i use the 9400 does not mean its great i'm planning to upgrade it as soon as i can. the 9400 was built for multimedia not gaming the 8800 would probably beat it. you should spend the same amount of money on the gpu as the cpu if not more.

if you want you can look at the 4770 its still a bang for buck item at least from what iv seen. plus it only costs $114 on newegg and i'm sure you can find it cheaper. the 5770 and 4770 are basically the same 40nm, 128 bit, ddr5 so on and so on the 4770 just does not support dx11.

also note that the 4770 is close to the 4850 in performance but has less power needs and more over-clocking head room.

as i said you dont need a 3ghz processor if you want that you can overclock to get it better spend your money on gpu as thats going out of date faster atm

if its possible post some links to parts with the specs i am interested in finding, i am having difficulty looking for parts for my budget

i would say get the 630 or 620 if your going with a amd build intel you really have no choice would be an i3.

also would like to add that amd makes it easy to upgrade they will stay with the am3 socket for some time. then when the next socket comes out they will probably make the new cpus able to run on am3 and the new socket.

hmmm that might make the cpu more expensive but i'm sure motherboards could drop in price by a lot perhaps drop latency drastically. though i think thats what the P55 setup was trying to do by eliminating the southbridge.

i doubt amd is going to put an imba expensive chip out there as people wont go for it and the i7 will remain on top or intels next gen chip

well, then its decided i will go with amd also i have calculated that i will have a budget of 750 to 800 so i may be able to get theat 5770 but may go for the 4770 gpu btw whats the 630 and 620 full detail name on it so i can look it up

AMD Athlon II X4

and if your going for a bigger budget i would say get something a little bigger then the 4770. like a 4870 and a 5770 would last longer then a 4770. the 4770 is a budget card as the 4870 and 5770 are mid level.
