First one was just win...

I'll admit, the brother was totally in the wrong. Getting busted for having beer vs telling all your friends your sister is a whore aren't exactly on the same page. He fails at being an older brother...

theres a difference between getting caught and being ratted out. If his sister thinks she's big enough to act like a bitch then she should realize that anything her brother has on her is also fair game. If you are going to play games like that then deal with the consequences, you don't **** someone over and just expect to walk away from it. Personally it think they're both retarded, she's a whore and he's a dumbass but my feelings aside its extremely hypocritical to start drawing lines like that saying one form of ratting out is worse than another.

The guy should have bribed his sister. Tell her that he has found the letter and if she doesn't go to their parents and tell them that she planted the cans in his room, then he would post the letter on FB. That way he can get something out of it.

Well look at it this way, what's worse, me telling your mom you smoke if she was against it, or me telling all your friends that you're a crack-man-whore with no self dignity. One is just temporary punishment with not many people knowing and your reputation still intact. The other causes your reputation to be farked.

I don't think it's hypocritical at all. They both ratted each other out, but to different group and number of people with different side effects. I doubt, OMG he drinks is as bad as OMG she's a slut.

Another example would be if the guy ratted the girl out for shoplifting and gets her grounded, and she retaliates by posting on facebook about how her brother has AIDS from when he experimented with a guy. Overkill.

Both are still ratting out, but over the line imo. Than again, maybe i'm just the only one that sees a diff.

3 months vs what he did isn't really overkill, it's bad but meh. 3 looooooooong months. Besides she needs to see what she's doing/did is horrible..maybe she'll change her future career from whore to something a little better.

I don't think you take parents seriously enough. Maybe to you the trust of parent is something you can take for granted but by the sound of that punishment i don't the same goes for him. Even though his punishment will only last a certain amount of time his parents will probably judge him based on the and hang the crime over his head for years. That lack of trust can have drastic effects on your social life. Clearly this kids parents are not to be trifled with and his sister knew that and knew the kind of scrutiny he would face and she ratted him out anyway.

the example you use has a number of undetermined factors. I'll ignore the homophobic implications of the example and simply say that in that case one person went further than the other. But you should realize that you just equated a teenagers slut list to a person with a potentially life threatening disease. Even with the comparison you used those two events don't hold the same weight.

Boy gets in trouble with parents, loses there trust

Girl is revealed as a slut, gets reputation as a slut

in my world the social stigma suffered from being known as a slut will probably have less important consequences than your parents not trust you and thinking you're deviant. Truth be told if she was following that list than word of her behavior would've got out eventually...im sure you know who the sluts are at your HS and im sure its given some kind of status and sway with some group of people...the boy doesn't get that privilege with his parents...
