I had to stop watching at that point since it was pretty clear what was going to follow. I honestly don't know if that guy is simply in denial or he's just that stupid not to realize the flaws of distributing Bibles to students in all schools or displaying the 10 commandments in public. He sounds just as ridiculous as those atheists who say that they feel offended by Christmas trees. And what the hell is wrong with being an atheist? He makes it sound like it's a fucking disease. And I'm pretty sure by the time people are 19 or even 14, that they've already heard at least the summary of what religion (Christianity) has to offer if they live in countries like the US; hell, their parents are most likely members of a Christian religion. And honestly, I really wouldn't care if someone prays in school before their meals or whenever they want to as long as they don't come up to me and start their typical condescending, judgmental bullshit on what I should do with myself.

As somebody that was brought up and tought in a christian school system I hold an athiest / agnostic religous view point. I was able to see both sides of the arguaments and decided that I didnt beleive in it and it didnt offer anything to me.
I understand why people hold the beliefs they do and for that reason I do not try to sway their views on such topics because I beleive people should make up their own mind and not based on the arguaments of other people.
it is for this reason why I will never understand why people feel the need to try and change other peoples beliefs. Your regligion should be something that you hold close to your heart and turn to in your hour of need it should not be something that you should expect or try to push somebody else to turn to.
Why cant people just be happy believing what they beleive without trying to convert other people or telling other people that they are wrong... we live in a free world were people are able to make up their own minds on topics like this just because some information is not tought in schools anymore does not mean that it isnt avaliable to people.

Am I the only one who was introduced to both the theory of evolution and creationism in school? I'm very content with how it went down, very objective just pure facts. I think it's important to be given an insight into a very large portion of the people.

My teacher just did what this guy claims to do, but did it completely unbiased. He explained both theories and didn't say one was right and the other wrong. He did say what he believed in, but he wouldn't have been much of a biologist if he said there was no evolution.
I'm all for showing everyone multiple angles, religious or not.
This book is not a very objective way of introducing both theories, it's more of a smear campaign against Darwin, so I think this will backfire on them. But that's their choice of trying to spread their beliefs. It's free, it's not being forced on to you, I don't see anything wrong with this. (Besides their views, I don't agree with them, but there's nothing wrong with trying to get your idea out there)

if that were public school you'd be able to sue. The point is that creationism is not science. Its not biology. It has no place in a science or biology class. Thats not what students are supposed to be learning there. Its not about getting the two different opinions in an unbiased way. One has something to do with the subject at hand and the other is someone elses personal philosophic and religious beliefs. Not in the same category.

I can see what you mean here. But the US is a country of immigrants. Some people are muslims, jews, christians, hindus, etc. All these religions have different "holy" books that the immigrants (that moved to the US) considered historic.

Supposed I'm a Buddhist and in one of my classes they are teaching about Christianity and about how all the people following a different religions are traitors or "evil", I would feel pretty uneasy. And why should they only teach the Bible in school while not teaching the Koran, Vedas, and w/e book the Jews have? That would be considered unequal/unfair.

And btw, they don't teach scientific theories as a fact ("Cell Theory", "Evolution Theory", "Big Bang Theory"), atleast not in my school system.
If someone wanted to teach their child about Christianity/Islam/Judaism/Hiduism, they should send their send their child to church or catholic school/mosque/[w/e temple the jews have]/temples. IMO.

And about what Blurred said. The religions have different opinions on the "creator". Some think its a guy with a white beard that sent a prophet to inform the people about him. Some think the world was created several gods. There are religions like Taoism/Greek myths/Chinese myths that contradict with that.

Dont know about America but here (Sweden) we learn the basics of all big religions but they arent trying to force us to believe in any of them.

We also learn about Evolution but a bit more deeper than in religion class.

Fact is that the theory of evolution is a universal principle where as creationism
only applies to christians (7 day creation version). As most religions have their
own belifes on how everything came into exsistance.

I for one am for evolution and the big bang theory, but i respect the creation
theory where god created everything, Only difference is that creationism is
not science. It has no place in a science or biology class. Thats not what
students are supposed to be learning in schools and as such should be something
that one choses to look up on. Not to be forced into studying this.
