Its the fact that man hasn't worried about animals in the last few centuries is why a lot of them are now extinct!

But there are people out there that do care, and people that are trying to do something.

yes but this is turning out to be the largest and it was entirely avoidable and mostly caused by human interference. not that i care but my friend tends to spout this stuf to me as she gives up on humanity...

99% of the creatures that roamed the earth are now extinct. Just the way the cycle works. Eliminating for example, the whale shark, has little significance of anything, except a slight shift in the food chain.

Sure, its sad that something that took millions of years to evolve went extinct, especially on our behalf, but as said, 99% of life is already extinct.

You could speculate, that if we make too many things extinct, our own demise will follow, as we destroy food chains and upset natures balance. However, even after, the earth will evolve again millions of years from now, as it has done several times over.

For any one particular example tho, its of little effect; the Tasmanian Wolf was hunted to extinction, and its not much missed outside of the "thats terrible" factor. You could say, its unfortunate generations from now will not be able to look upon a tas-wolf, but outside of that.... shrug.

It is undoubtedly a huge issue what were doing to change the earths climate, and the terrible consequences it will have. However, theres also things that you cannot stop. The earth has seen many hotter periods, without our help. Its seen cold periods, complete freeze overs, and ice ages. Though its arrival is always a huge debate, the next ice age isnt too far around the corner regardless of our actions. And in that ice age, we'll see some extinctions, just like we did during the last ice age.

I dont believe theres any particular reason to intentionally drive something extinct, as it is "unfortunate" but, its "not the end of the world" either

Say you do save whale sharks. And, reduce global warming (climate change)

Then yellowstone errupts next year, wiping out the states around it, 8 feet of ash covering half our continent, poisonous gas and ash all through the earths atmosphere blocking out the sun.

It is 30,000 years overdue for eruption.

Hmmm... hello? We're in year 2009. If humans wanted to worry about animals they would've started doing it long ago.

it's not that I don't agree with you

who cares about animal rights
the worlds gonna end in 2012

OT: agreed, thats a place to visit before you die
