I find it hard to find a forum that has a good consistency. You'll get forums where your topic will get buried within 2 hours, or forums that aren't filled with active people, but its harder to find a forum with just the right balance of both. Or sometimes you'll just get forums where you don't know if the thread was updated since the last time you looked at it.

if you play games, there are a lot of clan sites with forums. If you can join one of the dedicated ones, you can have a nice community to chat with.
