Getting a Cellphone.!

So I have the stupidest Question..
I am gonna be getting an EnV2(verizon) because my GF has Verizon and it's free, but I heard that if i get a pre paid EnV2 and have at least $1 on it that it will be free. So heres the question, will it still be free with a pre paid, or must i get a plan? I ask because I haven't owned a cellphone since like Freshman year other than a crap pre paid that i Used once or twice.

I fail to understand what you're saying. Perhaps it's different from here, but here you get say... a $60/month for 24 mnths. plan like mine is which means I pay $60 each month and get $60 of calling/text/videocall/MMS/voicemail/internet credit.

If I had prepaid however, I must buy the phone, then buy the credit on top of that. Though there isn't a monthly fee.

Yeah Verizon has a pre-paid plan, but I'm not too sure how it works.
