monitor and dead pixels help.

Post by cin »

ok.

first i wanted to get THIS SCREEN (samsung 2493HM)

but since i'd have to wait at least 2 weeks for one of those, i'm
going to get THIS SCREEN (samsung 2693HM) instead.

the company i'm getting it at says they can't give me any pixel
guarantee because the screen is larger than 22", but they apply
the samsung pixel policy, which basically says that there's no
real pixel guarantee. in the bottom of that policy (i got a pdf
in dutch) they have a small table with info about their policy
on dead pixels at tft screens, however there's no word about dead
pixels on lcd screens.

i'm probably buying it anyway, but i'd like to know how big the
chances are that there's one or several dead pixels in my screen,
and how much i will notice of it. because people have been telling
me that on a high resolution, you can't see the dead pixels anyway
unless you're actively looking for them.

thnx in advance.

Well, I cant answer this for sure but when my lcd screen got retarded I send it back to the company and I got a new one, so far I havent seen any dead pixels so I think the chance is pretty small.

I've banged and bumped these monitors for over 2 years .. and have them on about 15 hours a day ... no dead pixels.

Unless you're an idiot who likes dropping your monitor .. very unlikely that they will appear.

If you sit far away from your monitor, it's not as noticeable. However, one of my friends had a dead pixel on their monitors and it was very noticeable if you were watching a movie during dark scenes.

Odds are if it did have one you won't even notice. A lot of manufacturers warn there might be 1, 2 dead pixels on larger monitors. If unlucky it might be right smack in the middle of the screen or something. The only time you'll ever really notice is on a pure white background. We have 5-6 LCD's here at work and I havnt noticed if any of them have dead pixels. My monitor at home has a dead pixel in the lower left corner, but I haven't thought about it for 2 years until you just now asked this question.

1 of 1310720 pixels, man....

my samsung 2253LW works great, sure it is a smaller inch size but it still has a native res. of 1680x1050 and so far no dead pixels! which surprises me because the first day i got it i was setting it up and i dropped the stand for it on the screen right when i opened the box :banghead: so now it has a mark on the screen but still no dead pixels :D!

The screen I am using right now has some strange pixels. Some times they are blue. I think that's a dead pixel, isn't it?
Anyways, hardly ever notice it at all.

I have a dead pixel on my 19'' monitor, and I never see it, unless i focus my eyes on it.

I Got a Samsung Syncmaster T200 20" and they warned me for dead pixels like 50 times tryed to get another 20 euro off of me but they failed big time, I've had like 3 screens and we got 10+ here in the house monitors,tv's etc none of them had a dead pixel yet. Only my psp had 1 semi- dead one. Didn't ever notice it

My monitor's got a dead pixel also, I rarely notice it. It's near the bottom of the screen.

I'm pretty sure it's stuck pixels, i've had a few and they're easy to fix. the safest way is to use certain programs, but just pushing the spot where the pixel is works too. I don't recommend doing that though.

I would be more worried about stuck pixels. Dead pixels happen often on delivery, some companies have to have a certain number of dead pixels to replace it. But really if its just one or 2 you wont notice it, usually you notice by really getting close and analyzing.
