How does your Punish you? Teach you a lesson?

As i ended the last chapter of my past never forgotten true love...
... a new one begins
I'm begging to find a way on how to connect with someone new...
....somehow this new Chapter will be quite an experience.

Yes, there should always be a good reason.
Punishment should be administered with rewards for appropriate behavior. The negative effects tho is that children who become punished resent their parents more and more, and adapt to that physical or mental abuse and then pass that onto their children through learned helplessness.
That is not necessarily the case, I was beaten by whatever was within reach of my parents(ruler, belt, umbrella, etc) but I never resented my parents.I knew there were results for acting a fool and I prepared to accept full responsibility for my actions.
When a child does something wrong like throw a tantrum, instead of giving into the child's needs or punishing them, ignore them. They will eventually learn and leave no scars. This way, they don't become brats, and they aren't emotionally scarred for life.
Judging from my own experience, I find that people around me who were beaten as children were generally better people that those who were not beaten(they act like assholes/spoiled brats). Of course, the APA says otherwise http://www.apa.org/releases/spanking.html

I got that as well + the no TV thing + no visits from friends. Not even to mention my girlfriend at that time, who simply got told I wasn't allowed to see her because I needed to be punished for my behavior. But I don't blame my mother for it, not one bit.

Was waiting for someone to say that. I was going to, but I figured I'd answer.
