Rendering in Sony Vegas

Muhh, need some help when rendering a vid under any version of Sony Vegas ( Atm using 9.0 )

Anyways, when I have my project done .. I go to render and chose .. to my understanding the best settings for my file. I let it render ( usually an hour or 2 ) and view it. Always looks quite kack. For no reason at all ;s.

And when I upload it to youtube .. it's even worse.


So my question is, does anyone know any optimal settings to save a vid as so it'll look good on youtube ?

The render settings you will apply differ depending on where you want to watch the movie later. For viewing it on a PC, pixel aspect ratio of 4:3 or 16:9(widescreen) and try to stay at 30 fps. But, for example, if the video source is PAL 25fps, leave it like that. A PC can play any aspect ratio and fps, but to get best results you will want to set the aspect ratio like the screen you'll play it on. If you take a 4:3 video and play it on a widescreen you'll get vertical letterboxing (the black bars). You can fit the size to the screen but stretching will occur. There is no perfect ratio, you'll have to find some compromise. I would also recomend to not resize the pixel size, especially increase. Source is 1440x900 and ur increasing the output video to 1680x105, thats not good.

There will always be quality loss after editing and rendering a video, so should always try to minimize that loss. It would be good to edit the video when its still a big raw uncompressed .avi file.

About the internet i have no idea. I know that youtube recommends.mp4 but you can get better results than that. Check these links, maybe it helps you.

i am using the trial version of 9.0 platinum. i agree there's a glitch with the rendering and it being poor quality, and one sec, i'm rending on NTSC widescreen to see if there's a difference...
... the widescreen looks a little more crisper then the other but it's not as "widescreen" as the other.

it can take 1-5 hours if you are rendering it to have the HD option in youtube.

my rendering settings for HD are .wmv with 16:9 widescreen, NTSC Widescreen(720x...), best quality, 128 kbps. and if its like 8 min video, it shoudl take about 3 hours to render with these options. but its worht it, cuz its HD in utube

Um, the BEST style to compress/render at is x264 codec. that will get you an HD option in youtube. All my project footage is 1280x720 which it has to be 16:9 to stretch to fill the widescreen youtube player.

Is that supposed to be motion blur, or did you render at 720i?

just follow the steps and it should be in hd on youtube (assuming you're media is 720p or higher of course).

Hmm that looks very nice actually hm.

I tried some other settings a few hours ago and my project .. which consisted of a total of 14MB .. renderd up past 69GB and cancelled cause not enough disk space lol wtf.

Anyways these are my options: I have obtained a total 'stock' version tho so no extra plugins .. yet.

Any pointers on how .. not neccessary to do HD tbh .. just high quality is enough.
