Defragging

Post by Wu »

Heya guyz I need some help.

I got the trial version of Diskeeper last night because it had been months since I last defragged my C drive, and word goes the windows defragtool blows.

So I ran a full manual C defrag last night while sleeping, and when I got back today I analyzed my drive again and it looked like this:

I defragged the entire drive again but nothing changed in the analysis.

Is there any way to change all those red fields for some more blue? :P I know you can't get a overused drive to 100% top performance but this looks pretty bad.

You need at least 15% of your drive free to perform a decent degrag with diskeeper, try jkdefrag, it's very good/fast and free.

Ditto what Soda said. Remember, even Windows defrag used to require 10% free...

And for those saying Windows defrag blows, keep in mind it's basically Diskeeper under the hood with less bells' n' whistles. Works fine for most users.

Agreed that Diskeeper is better for geeks, techs, and people who want better performance.

I have just over 10% free disk space, if Diskeeper needs 15% that was probably the problem then :|

Thnx for the advices I'll give jkdefrag a shot and free up some hdd space ".

If you wanna free up diskspace, look no further than CCleaner.com

I used it just the other day and it cleared over 1.2 gb on my computer by deleting crap that doesn't do anything. If you have a big HDD, it should clean even more.

Those with Vista sp1, and you haven't followed this step, it should get you an extra gig or so free space.

http://www.labnol.org/software/tutorial ... iles/2641/

I got something like 1.2 gigs back.

Basically, what it does is removes the option to return to vista without Sp1. If that makes sense (uninstall SP1 if you will).
