I agree, I might make a club at my school for atheists (there are like a billion clubs here, it's pretty stupid but it'll just be an experiment I guess). I bet you a maximum of maybe 10 people would join, out of the 1100.

Atheist1: Hey watsup.
Atheist2: Nothing. No god.
Atheist1: Yeah. There's no god.
Atheist2: Yup.
Atheist3: Watsup guys.
Atheist1: Nothing.
Atheist3: No god?
Atheist2: Yup.
Atheist1: Yup.
Atheist3: ...
Atheist2: ...
Atheist1: ...

There's nothing to talk about in a club filled with just atheists, especially when the club is about atheism. The only thing that's truly common to each of the members is the lack of belief in god. For the rest of their belief systems, it can be very different. As some say, it's like herding cats. Once you get them in one place, they leave and go in different directions.

A better one would just be a philosophy club. I'm in one in our university and on the first semester, we had nothing but atheists so any talks about god was absent. The club expanded and we took more diverse people, as we intentionally sought for theists.

OT: 30 mins... I'll check it later.

hmmm...he forgets scientist are very lazy ppl when it comes to things outside their point of interest.

i'll join this crusade later *yawn*....

@Prophet an Atheist club could talk about ways and arguments disproving god, about famous atheist, about recent atheist developments etc....there is alot of potential in an atheist club the only problem would be that because theist ideas are infused in so many things it may overlap with another club, but that does not make it pointless or impossible...

For what it worths, I always thought that worshiping Satan isn't the opposite of worshiping God. It's actually the practice of NOT submitting to the "hype" that God exists.

But if you believe thing like oh... our founding fathers ideals, you should at least respect the belief of other people. So that's what I do. I don't hate them. I don't think they're less intelligent for believing something that has no physical proof. I just don't say anything as long as they don't try to convert me.

Now, if I was a George Carlin fan, I probably would worship the Sun or Joe Pesci.

I wish I could watch here at my house. Sadly my internet is gay and I can't watch it without messing up the internet for 24 hours. I'll try to watch it at my Dad's office or something...then I'll come here and start pointing out all the flaws in the video. Until then I'll just let you Atheist's have your fun.

It comes to the point that you need religion to have atheism, but you don't need atheism to have a religion.

The part about he says that people believe in things because they were taught to and MUST believe in the faith that they are given Is mostly leaning towards mormons.

Atheism is like procrastinating. when you procrastinate, you benifit yourself now, but in the end it is unrewarding. When you do the work now, it benifits you in the end. So in life, we don't know what the reward will/might be. Religion is a gamble and how well people can debate about their own side.

I'm not going into further depth into this topic because I can banter all I want and it might never make a difference. :banghead:

how is Atheism procrastinating. By likening it to such a thing you already reveal your bias by making is sound as though in the end EVERYONE finds religion. Procrastinating does nothing to benefit yourself anyway, it keeps you from doing what needs to be done and lets you fall further behind, in what way is that beneficial. Religion is not a gamble. If you believe in God either you listen to him and go to heaven or don't and go to hell. Simple as that. Theres no luck, no random factor, no chance involved whatsoever.

Atheism is the gamble. If you choose not to believe in God you could be right or wrong. 50/50 chance. You won't know until your dead and if you choose not to believe in God and he's real then you just lost the game. If you choose no to believe and he's not real then i guess you just do whatever it is dead ppl do.

Most people are raised in a religion. They are taught to believe that God is real in some form. In fact those born into a Muslim family are not allowed to convert to any other religion under Muslim code. Christians of all dogma including Catholic and Baptist raise their children with the belief that there is a God. Yes this is a generalization and there are exceptions but not many.

and lastly Atheism came before religion. People did not start off believing in God, they eventually took up the practice of worship. So the belief that there was no God predates the belief that there is one by awhile....

Actually religion came first. Adam and Eve worshiped and obeyed God whilst they were in Eden. There was no such thing as Atheism there. Religion has and always will be here.

>_> People aren't born believing in god(s). Adam and Eve are fictional characters from a book put together by some primitives that used to worship trees, rocks, animals, and sometimes nothing at all.

I'm assuming dirt (or ash) worshiped god(s) before man came to be, ja?

Since when did this discussion have anything to do with Norse Mythology?!?

1. Your right though people aren't born believing in God. They have a choice. God gives us a choice.
2. Adam and Eve's story was put into the Bible by God. Not by some "primitives". How would anyone else know the story of Adam and Eve? Since they were the only ones alive at the time.
3. It's written in the bible when Jesus came to Jerusalem ridding on a donkey the Pharisees told Jesus to rebuke his disciples from crying out with joy upon his arrival. And Jesus answered saying "I tell you that, if these should hold their peace, the stones would immediately cry out"
So technically yeah dirt does/could/would worship God.

Tasd, 2) I could say the same about the stories of all the Greek Gods. 3) Jesus asked for the donkey to be brought to him when they were close, to fulfill the prophecy. 4) Lol @ your arguments.

Dude, you haven't quoted the bible. >_>.
