When someone comes to me telling me they're a realist I usually come to think of someone who is, I guess you can say stubborn, to think beyond what they see. It has to be in front of them for it to be true/real. Now what you're saying is that even though you don't believe in "spiritizm" and are a "realist" you want to believe in it because it would give your life that sense of surrealism, putting fantasy in a boring little life to "spice it up". Isn't that sort of contradicting thinking more neutral then realist?

OT: I've always found it hard to believe that spirits are wondering about and that a magic little piece of cardboard is going to help me talk to them but like Anh_Hung_Rom said there is nothing really I can say to prove they are there or aren't so to each their own. I forgot who said this but it made me laugh, I think it was Mr.Ganji "why would a spirit hang around anyway waiting for you to talk to them, they got better things to do.".

I dont want to believe in it. I just mentioned that it would be somehow cool to have something that can not be proved by scientific methods. I also think that realist is someone who believes only in things that can be proved and thats what I am.

Nope, that's a wrong way of thinking because you think that spirits are like human. They don't need to be in your room to be able to call them. They could hear your call, your pray from miles away, from apart world. Those who have strongest faith, got the loudest, farest voice.
If you want to call them, but you don't have faith, deny their existence or somewhere in you mind you don't wish to see them, it won't work.
Fear, sickness are nest of evil. So when calling, make sure you have a good state. Also your voice must be calling good spirits, else random evil spirits would join your party.

So you mean that if I believe (in the cards, sorry lame joke) with all my heart and basically whole heartily buy into believing there are spirits in this world and then,and only then, this "ouija board"-or do you even need one, I'm ignorant.- will allow me to speak with them?

Also what GT said, what if a skeptic like me is trying to call them but I'm using the wrong voice. How would I know? I could be calling upon a "bad" spirit and not even know it? and then all of a sudden.....

....Also why wouldn't spirits be like humans? they cam from humans after all and since you can't really prove/disprove their existence how would you know their characteristics, that they can hear from afar, or that certain spirits are attracted to certain people/voices.

In my language, there are words to distinguish good and bad spirits. Unlike in English there is just a word 'spirit', so beware when you use your words. Bad spirit cant come when your mind, intention didn't welcome them. It requires 2 persons because, im not sure, talking in a scientific way, 2 human energies source will create a super hybrid energy which is able to deal with spirits (spirits are energies, not photon or electron).

You can be skeptic, but as long as in your party, there is one who really believe, he would be the one who does success. And if whoever did it previously success, the next time is easier (coz he had more faith).
