From somebody who has tattoos, getting a name of something (or someone) simply isn't the best idea. (Unless you're getting the tat when you're 50).

What we think is cool/tough/awesome now isn't in 10-20 years, and you're more likely to get laughed at rather than "whoa, cool tat".

Images always work better, something that speaks to you're personality/likes.

If you like Tool, get a picture of...a pickaxe in somebodies head, ^^, or the Hammer and Sickle of Soviet Russia, something that represents your likes.

It's your body and nobody should TELL YOU what to do with it. When it's something (basically) permanent, add some caution to the choice and don't jump in with the emotional rollercoaster ride of getting your first tat (more will follow, haha)

Absolutely +1 to this person's post. Your tastes will change as you get older, or "may" change (I still like Tool myself, but listen to more varied music now). Make sure whatever you get can weather those changes. Also, decide exactly why you want one. Not to be cool, but to make a statement about your life and likes. Mine were chosen for spiritual reasons.

(And disregard everyone stating not to get one)

If you have decided to get one, just make sure to be careful about it. BTW, make sure you use a qualified artist and not just anyone. We had an artist that never used flash tats but drew her own based on your description of what it should look like. The result is a tat that nobody else will exactly mimic.
